Rinds thread 'Tick tick tick' had me thinking. What things do you wish you had done when you were younger that you feel you aren't able to do now?

Or what things would you have done differently that would have changed the course of your life?

I think my main regret will always be, not concentrating on my education enough when I was younger.

I agree with the education bit, i`ve gone back to education as a mature student, but just wish i`d done it all sooner.
Also wish i`d spent less time fearing what over people thought, which stopped me from trying new things at the time.

Yes I've done the mature student bit too. I don't know if you will agree but you never quite feel you still have the opportunities as the school leavers.

Yes I agree with this also and would add that I also wish I'd taken less notice of peoples oppinions and criticism!

I wish I had my kids a little older.......NOT that I don't adore my little dumplings, but, its a scary world now!! and maybe if I had started older, I wouldn't have even had any in this day and age. So much has changed since we were kids, and I'm only 26, but if you got a slap off a teacher at school, there wasn't any legal pursuits.......you was just guaranteed another off your parents when you got home for being naughty anyway.

I say bring back the old fashioned way of bringing up our kids......and you cant go far wrong!!

As you know Slink it's crossed my mind too whether we had kids to young but I'm still undecided on that yet. I think it's a matter of time will tell. There is advantages and dis-advantages having had them young, at least we get to enjoy our later years with independant children but did we miss out on younger years? I'm not sure. :confused:

That's what you think Tink.......before you know it they will be having kids of their own and then you will be tied down with those G'kid thingies that I don't like to talk about!

1 Bed roomed flat coming up, no room for grand thingies to sleep. And because we were very young when we had them.....we will still be working when they come along!!! so we can't possibly babysit:D :D :D

lol! Marg as far as I'm concerned G'kid thingies aren't for life .... they're just for 2 days a year, birthdays and Christmas. Any other day I'll be to busy at the bingo! :D

Yeah well.....good plan....hope it works. I planned something like that too....my daughter waited until I retired to have her kidlidids....she was 36 when she had her first....so I thought I had got away with it. So my plan back fired major style......and she really did it brown.... had two of those ankle biters in 3 years....Aaaaaaargh!

Well Margaret.....my oldest son is a little Effeminate, and I'm hoping he may be gay anyway. And my youngest is a lads lad, and hates us females.....and I'm hoping he will stay that way. Therefor, maybe I will not need the one bed roomed flat after all:D :D

Me and tinks worked out a plan very young in age. She had her daughter when i was old enough to babysit for her daughter. Then I had my kids when her daughter was old enough to babysit for my kids..........see!! me and tinks don't do babysitting lmao:D :D

lol! Or just move to the otherside of the world, it will be difficult having to catch a plane everytime they need a sitter and it ensure that they really must need one desperately to go to all the trouble of getting to me! :D

Major regret was getting married too young & rushing into it certainly with the wrong bloke that was very evil - WHERE THE HELL WAS MY BRAINS!! LMAO!!

I wouldn't like to be a youngster again bad enough 1st time round pmsl - certainly not these days anyway.

:( wished i had done better at school and maybe picked the winning numbers on the 1st lottery lol

also wish that i had been able to start my career on ambulance a few years sooner but I also enjoyed my time on the buses

Oooooohh thats reminded me i wish i'd of got the lottery numbers put on just before my daughter was born as i had lost out on lottery winnings aka the big one - thanks to kn*bhead X:mad: .........

...... but then again he would of been entitled to half so maybe a good job - mmm some things are for the best sometimes lol:D

I remember posting before, that sadly I achieved my only ambition, which was to have clothes I'd designed in the magazines i-D and the Face.

It's quite sad really that I don't have any other burning desire to fulfil.

I would still like to be a child star in a film, like Damien in the Omen, but it would mean shaving my legs, if the part demanded short trousers.:(

I also had my children young and now at the grand old age of 35, I have a 14 ½ years old and one at nearly 13years old. Now I don't regret it but do wonder if I would have done something more with my early 20's rather than getting married (and divorced in late 20's :eek: ) and having kids.

I have got a special 40th planned though. My eldest will be 18 at end of 2009 and I will be 40 at end of 2010 so we are going to south africa (along with youngest who will be 17) to the world cup finals :D

I wish I'd done my degree earlier, in my 20's...... That way, I wouldn't have to be doing it now. :( That is my only real wish at this moment in time.
I have been very lucky, I'm glad that I have travelled and seen a bit of the world and I will continue to do so while I can still walk....:D
I'm glad that I got married to the wrong person, it has taught me not to do it again.:D
I just wish I'd done that degree, I struggle to find the time to do it now..

I always wish I'd travelled more as a teenager/student. I'd have like to spend some time doing the cruise ships and maybe a gap year before I started Uni would have meant I finished it.

Other than that I don't regret anything. I will have a go at anything that takes my fancy and have scared myself silly on numerous occasions. I've been very close to some accidents that would have kiiled me without doubt and been in accidents that will affect me for the rest of my life.

I'd like to live abroad at some point but other than that life is good for me.

I would have ate less after haveing my second child.

I would have not bought a tv from tiny.

I would have learnt to drive.

I would have learnt to say NO to people.

My list is endless but one things for sure i would not change the people who are in my life none of them i love them all.

Yes I would change some of the things I have done but would not change others. What we have done since we were born has shaped who we are. To change that might have changed who we are and what we might have become or become as we get older. At least we have the knowledge and experience to advise others because of it.

Hi Carolef, I worked at the gas board on Hyndburn Rd. and remember your house, did your mum make meals for the gas lads when we were working late? If so e-mail me, e-mail me anyway if you like.

hi ossy kid, i did live at the gas works from about 1964/65 until approx 1977 so i don,t know if you worked on the gas works then, my dad used to look after the gasomitters and the boiler and guvner houses i don't remember anybody working with him, you might remember him he was called fred, he died in 1977, it would be very nice to know if you do remember him as my memories of him are vague, i was only 12 when he died. please reply or pm me :)
ps, at the moment i'm researching his royal navy career during the war and after, so it would be nice if you had any recollection of him.

my biggest regret is falling out with me nan (who looked after me 5 days a week) i wasn,t talking to her for days,then she had an accident,and never regained conciousness,i was still beating myself up 20 years later, was so pig-headed when i was young.:(

I would have had my eldest 2 a lot later in life as I have more patience now with my youngest. I would have carried on and got my degree. I would have been more help to my mum before she died instead of listening to my whinging ex. And I would have travelled the world.
One of my ambitions is about to come true though, I am starting driving lessons this comming week. I have always wanted the chance to learn & have now been given the opportunity so stay off the roads for a while :)
