Confession time ..
Never considered myself a criminal, but three things that have been preying on my mind since childhood :-
1) Mum used to give me 3d. for collection at Sunday School and spent 2d. in the toffee shop on my way. 2) Once slipped a mascara brush worth 1 1/2d into my hand from Woolworths only to return it 10 minutes later. 3) Stole 6d. out of my mum's purse and bought my friends a red 1d ice lolly each ... got caught. Phew !! that's off my chest, I feel cleansed. :banjump: |
Re: Confession time ..
Katex...you aren't on your own. My mum used to give us 2d each for the Sunday School collection.....and we used to spend all 8d(there were 4 of us) in the sweetshop and then go up Oakhill Park and try to guess what time it was so that we could go home roughly at the time Sunday School finished.
We would buy a good selection of stuff from the penny tray...and you could get 8 aniseed balls for a penny.....halfpenny bubblies...although with those we had to get rid of them before we got home or old eagle eyes would want to know where we had got it from. You could get a fair sized bag of Rainbow drops for 2d.....cherry lips......my goodness the list goes on and on. |
Re: Confession time ..
Sooo good to know not on my own here, Margaret ... although at least I did save 1d. for the collection and still go to Sunday School. Your crime, therefore, far outweighs mine.
P.S. Didn't like those rainbow drops, summat funny about the chocolate. |
Re: Confession time ..
Nooooooo Katex......I don't mean those things that were like mini worm cakes.......I mean the ones that were like multi coloured mini puffed wheat......you COULD put milk on them if you wanted...but we prefered to eat them one at a time......they lasted forever.....mmmmm delicious!

Re: Confession time ..
I DID go to Mass with Muti on a Sunday morning....she made me, but I also quite liked the services in latin......then it was Wesleyan Sunday School in the afternoon(no wonder I grew up with a confused sense of religious affinity).......I felt that I had had my dose of religion for the week....the park held much more attraction than the musty old Sunday School...even in Winter!
