The speed bump at the entrance to meadoway in Church has a gaping hole under it. We weren't speeding but it still caused damage to our car

They are both in Rossendale Entwisi!

Re: Dodgy roads round Hyndburn List here please!

Stonebridge Lane in Oswaldtwistle, just near the bridge there is a large and deep pothole that is causing everyone to swerve onto the other side of the road on a bend.

Heys just off Stonebridge Lane in Oswaldtwistle, the whole road surface is crumbling away due to the extra traffic while Stonebridge Lane bridge was being repaired.

Lord Street in Oswaldtwistle, at the side of the Church, its more of a depression in the road but very nasty if you hit it, especially for anyone with an old fashioned type sprung suspension car ;).

Where are the chicanes? Do I just drive straight through them everyday without seeing them?

Last week coming home from work I could have had him on the bonnet twice. I am a nice friendly chap so I nodded and drove on. :) It made me thirsty seeing him walking out of the Black Dog and I was forced to sample a couple of tins when I got home. Does this mean that Peter is driving me to drink?

No wonder he has trouble crossing the road.:p

Well, Neil all I can say is that you live up to your motto (hover over the green squares and it says you are 'really nice' - although my english teacher at school said that nice was a very 'tired' word and should not be used in any circumstances).....if you can have PB in your sights and let him live then you must be a saint.....St. Neil....sounds like a supermarket brand!

I was about to put forward a speed hump at the bottom of Omorod St. which has an enormous hole in it and 100 metres further down, (outside Scaitcliffe House) a mini roundabout that is in very poor condition - HOWEVER - I've just passed the mini roundabout and it has now been meticulously repaired but alas the rest of Eagle St, and Omorod St. remains in a very poor condition.

I hope all you cynics out there don't think that the proximity of Scaitcliffe house had anything to do with the speed or quality of repair.

What about the absence of viewable road markings. Surely somebody at HBC has the wit to monitor and review these?

I think you will find that is now the responsibility of LCC since they "took the roads back" from Hyndburn a few months back.

Busman beat me to it with the humps on Ormerod Street. Road markings are chronic in most places too.

I am not sure it has been transfered back quite yet. Certainly not with the number of orders for work coming into the department for 'sudden work' in St Andrews!

Bold Street and Essex St. I have put both in for repairs and they have been marked with white paint for patching. I will be asking soon 'how soon now?'.

Gosh, Graham - you're not saying that St Andrews ward has finally made it to the top of the list to become a priority are you? After twenty odd years I suppose it is time for some of these things to be done isn't it?

Re: Dodgy roads round Hyndburn List here please!

I have reported the pothole that I went into to LCC and have stated that I will be looking to them for the cost of the repair. Does anyone know how long it has been there? It has obviously taken quite a while to get into that state.

Well it just so happens that the hole on Stonebridge Lane was repaired earlier this week.
I don't care why it was done but I am glad that is was done.

Someone must have threatened legal action if they had an accident there.

I don't that matters much as they must have insurance to cover them for this sort of thing.

SPUGGIE J 29-04-2006 14:58

Re: Dodgy roads round Hyndburn List here please!

True but who is it that pays the insurance its Mr n Mrs Ordinary through there council tax and like all insurance more claims means higher council tax.

How many pot holes up Ossy have had a dollop of tarmac thrust into them now it's election time. Typical Tories, they did the same in Harwood and ended up losing the seat for the first time since Poll Tax years. Britcliffe and Co must think the public are stupid.
