My hubby just spent 10 days in hospital...and i do not begrudge one penny the nurses and staff get,,, i would much rather see money go to the N.H.S.

2nd richest club in the world. Disgraceful...The case has received lots of publicity, but what about those that don't. How many other injustices are there regarding lottery funding?

cannot agree that mufc office workers is a good cause, also cannot agree that the councils should employ funding officers to apply for these grants,to me that just creates more ratepayers money going away, what should happen from where i,m standing is simple- the government should get a grip of the national lottery and make SURE it goes to deserving causes (who determines that?) try asking joe public! who votes these people in, and also the way it is now! like margaret i stopped doing the lottery a long time ago.

The trouble is that the government and/or the lottery does not know every single small charity and voluntary group that exists so the only way they can administer it is by having an application form. The forms have to be fairly comprehensive to ensure that the right groups get the funding, they can't just ask 'do you deserve it?' Unfortunately, that means that the process is sometimes off putting for some groups or that some groups simply haven't got the right person completing the forms so they do them incorrectly. What is needed is a central person in an area who knows what funding is available and how to complete the forms properly so that groups stand more chance of getting the money that they really deserve.

Every week I get sent bulletins of all the funding that is available but it's a case of being proactive and acting on the bulletins by matching the funding pots up to the right groups. I'm suggesting that it is someone in the council because the more money that comes in to the area benefits the whole of the area.

I can't imagine that it would cost much to employ a council official to do the form filling.....I can't imagine it would be a full time job and if local charities got the benefit then it would be worth it....maybe it could be done by somone who is semi retired.......maybe even a volunteer with access to council office space and facilities......I'm sure it doesn't have to cost a fortune.

OK maybe I'm being a bit dim here but surely if it comes down to filling in forms with all the right "buzz words" then there's something wrong with the forms, of not indeed with the whole system.

Surely if we can see that the MUFC bods' and the solicitors' grants seem unfair then whoever is granting them surely has as many brain cells as the average AccyWeb member and can also think for themselves?

I remember when we were originally told that this wonderful new National Lottery would only assist worthy causes and charities. It seems to do anything but.
