The great Cola Challange
 

OK, a while ago I posted that in a taste test a group of chef chose cheap cola over Coke. Well at last nights meet I ran an independant taste test to see how some of our illustrious members could do.

The results are as follows

The 4 colas presented were

Cheap 'Star' cola (1)
Virgin Cola(2)
Diet Coke(3)
Tesco Diet Cola(4)

So how did they do? The results are quite interesting! I asked for them to list them in order of preference

Anne 4:3:1:2
Katex 4:1:3:2 (Particular Urrrghhh! at number 2)
Nettie 2:4:1:3
Sparkologist 3:1:2:4
Ellie 4:2:3:1
FluffyDoll 4:2:3:1
Rindy 4:no preferences on the others however comments were 1:supermarket own brand, 2, Coke original, 3 Supermarket Diet cola
Pendy 3:1:4:2
Harwood Red 4:2:3:1
Mel3ft 1:4:2:3
Staggers 4:3:1:2 Staggers thought that the Virgin cola was definately original Coke
Nell 4:2:3:1
Buttonsmum 4:1:3:2
Chav 4:2:1:3 Chav put 4 as proper coke, 3 as definately not coke, 2 was Panda
Mez 2:3:1:4
Robbie 2:4:3:1
Michelle 2:3:1:4
So a vast majority(10 out of 17!) prefer the taste of TESCO own brand Diet coke! More surprising is that 'proper' coke comes so far down the list.

So quite clearly most people ARE paying far too much for their Cola!!!!

Sounds like it was a scientific test.

Were they sober at the time?

Just going to stick with Barr's cola and Vannila Coke. :D

i put 3 as definately not coke and technicaly i was correct because anything with the word DIET in it usualy tastes crap anyway :D

i think this test should have been done at the beginning of the night entwisi as my tste buds where already adapted to holts bitter:) and as for drinking the stuff.......i need a large vodka in mine to take the taste of coke away from it....lol

Oi Enty, there was definitely more posts on this thread t'other day... I distinctively remember both myself and Anne posting on here ..summat to do with no Bacardi in the coke.

Where they gone then ? Did you not like us pointing out your meanness to offer us only the coke, or is this some subterfuge to reduce our posts .. and sure I didn't use any bad language !!! :mad:

Firstly staggers, you were declaring unrelenting proposals before a drop had actually passed your lips! It was all in the smell you said :D

Secondly, the fact that not one person could tell that there wasn't a full fat original coke there tells you that no-one can actually tell the taste without a bottle there to confirm it. So you may as well as save your pennies and your waistlines and get up to Tesco!

Not convinced.

I'll stick with my real Diet-Coke, I've tried others when I've been sober, and it tastes like wee. Now there's an idea for the next taste test.;)

The different colas will always taste the same in the vodka. :p

As a lifelong die hard full fat Coke drinker I can now admit to drinking Coke Zero more than anything else. It still leaves a little after taste from the sweeteners but nothing like as bad as the diet cokes. I still prefer the full fat but chose the Zero whenever I can.

now ive always preffered the taste of diet coke Neil, full fat coke leaves a greasy taste at the top of your mouth(dont get clever) and zero is just crap, as for pepsi i HATE everything about all of them, i cant stand the stuff


and as for coke light well thats just imported crap that tastes nothing like any of the others its just gross and i refuse to buy it
