Labour, in trouble? whatever gave you that idea? They are just proving that they are as human as the Conservatives.

If they do badley it will be nothing to do with ministerial misbehavior it would be down to either voter apathy or mid term jitters. :D

If Labour do end up doing badly in the Generals then at least we will have a nice new deckchair on the Titanic that is dear old Blighty :D

If they do badly we'll have a Conservative government pushing through Conservative ideas, rather than a conservative leader pushing through Conservative ideas with the aid (or not) of a left-wing government ;)

I think I lost myself there, but I knew what I ment :p

I thought the best thing since sliced bread was a decent toaster. If we put Blair in one what would he look like after popping out??

I think local politicians want to do the best for Hyndburn. I think CC prisoner issue is important but it has little or no effect on Peter Britcliffe if he (or the Labour Party localy) gets in.

Local politics by and large are seperate from national. The Council decides where things get built and how. Whether there are Wardens or not and how much to tax locally. How much Councillors pay themselves and how the refuse collection and sports centre's work. Hyndburn Council decides what, where, how much, on a whole range of issues such as regenerating housing, or the environment or the infrastructure. Think Project Phoenix, The Cinema, Broadway and the Market Pavillions, Wheelie Bins. The list goes on.

There is as much power in the Town Hall as Whitehall for the ordinary person when you think what the Council can do and the Government is to remote to be able to intervene.

Hyndburn has a big choice to make for Hyndburn, not anywhere else.
