Who could this be?

Since we are getting all political on here;have a look at this little puzzler...which re-elected councillor didn't bother to attend the count at the Sports centre last night until one of his "flunkeys" rung with the news that it looked like he was winning???? Oh and just as an additional plus, when this charming man did arrive he barged thru other people like he was parting the Red Sea.....also fond of hanging the phone up on his constituents and accusing them of "wasting his time".

Careful Neil as he wasn't up for re-election yesterday, winking face or no winking face ;) :p

I SAID WINKING!!!!!

Re: Who could this be?

Oh yes I forgot ;). I didn't really. I just thought I would have a little dig back at him. For some reason I don't understand he appears to have a problem with me. In fact he has been quite offensive and even lowered himself to swearing at me. I am quite shocked that a man in his position would act like he does on a public forum.

I think he is infatuated with me. Look at some of his posts below.

I know that Tories attack the opposition and I accept that.

In Peel everyone who rings me gets a return call within 24 hours (or as near if I am away) and a follow up. Preferably by email so it it instant and contains al the information I receive. Any significant problems I will leaflet and organise a meeting and resolve it collectively. When I am not doing this I am out pro-actively making things better.

This months good news for Peel. The new park gates for Arden Hall (externally funded) - made like the originals in heavy cast iron with decoration - have been ordered and will be fitted in 10-12 weeks. The £50,000 allotment refit is complete and looks smashing. All rhe residents around here come up and tel me they are well pleased.

The bowlers at Peel Park are gettng a new awning (external funding) soon. The green is now amongst the best and the bedded plants and shrubs are getting tended so it looks smarter and membership is rising for the first time. Everyone is well suited.

Turkey St and the access to the coppice has been cleaned up with new bins and community clean up (by Huncaot Prospects) and the massive REMADE funding - that we lobbied for continually through the FOAH - will see things improve quickly.

What Cllr Britcliffe (or cronies or as Tory Wyn Frankland described her colleagues muppets and puppets) say about me has no bearing on improving the quality of peoples lives in Peel.

thought you might... i wasn't up for election... I am not fat enough to barge through anyway so I don't fit the profile.

You'd be no good at Cluedo Neil. I reckon it was Cllr Britcliffe in the Table Tennis Hall with the loud haler.

No. Much more gallant, always in the Observer kissing our leader's ass ( ), or defending the honour of a certain lady.

garinda 06-05-2006 16:23

I hope he doesn't disappear though. It's important to have both points of view represented and even better if we know who's representing them

I have attended several counts over the years and Gayle's observation about the difference in behaviour between the two parties is spot on.
I have wondered on more than one occasion about Peter Britcliffe's intelligence (or lack of it) and his sanity when I have observed his undignified behaviour at the count.

This profile of Peter Britcliffe on a BBC website made me laugh.

I hope to God he didn't fill it in himself. Accriwoton?????:D

Good manners and civility cost nothing Mick;you would expect the Leader of the Council to be setting an example;maybe that's expecting too much!

And I don't think these threads constitute 'moaning' - they are just observations.

All I can say is that there must be an awful lot of blind people in Ossy...they can't see that he has done precious little over the years that he has been in office...well, that is until someone with a bit of drive and determination stands against him...then he is falling over himself to tell us what he is doing...or should I say his cronies are!

One only has to read a letter in this weeks Observer (dated 19.5.06) from a Mr John Kirby to realise that he's hit the nail on the head when he says that voter apathy was the real winner in the local elections. Hardly a mandate for Mr "Civility" PB and his cronies.

I was just reading over this thread and your post caught my eye Lindsay. If Labour had got in then the Leader of the Council would be Graham Jones. Now that really is a worrying thought. Call Peter what you want but I can't imagine him being daft enough to swear at someone on a public forum.

Peter probably just swears out loud when he reads a certain 'public forum'.:D

Neil, if General Ratko Mladic stood fot the Conservatives you'd vote for him and attack me which I accept as part of the job.

However I won't repeat the foul, abusive and vulgar tirade Peter came out with at the count (in a public forum).

double post...

claytonender 20-05-2006 17:42

Re: Who could this be?

So you are at it again Neil, attacking Graham, and making out Peter Britcliffe to be some sort of saint. I know who I would rather have as the local leader of my party, Graham is honest hard working and has the interests of the people of Hyndburn as his driving force.
I can only add that Peter Britcliffe's conduct at the count was disgraceful, I hate to think how he would have behaved if he had lost control of the council.

Just when and where exactly did I say that Peter was a saint? I think your getting a little carried away now.

claytonender 21-05-2006 07:45

Re: Who could this be?

The fact of the matter is that as far as you are concerned Peter can do no wrong and Graham appears to be the devil incarnate.
I don't know why you have this opinion of Graham, who is a decent hard working councillor, who only wants the best for Hyndburn, as opposed to Peter Britcliffe, who appears to want to destroy our borough for some personal ego trip.

garinda 21-05-2006 08:34

Re: Who could this be?

I think Neil is just a bit tetchy because after being brought up in the Tory strong hold of the Ribble Valley he has had to move to Ossy.;)

Shady McGough 21-05-2006 13:57

Re: Who could this be?

Have to say I agree with Claytonender, I too was at the count and found Peter Britcliffe's antics astounding. I was actually told by a Conservative friend of mine (and yes I admit I have them) that, and I quote, "Peter always spends the evening of the count in the pub". Not conduct becoming of the leader of the council and I'm sure the people who voted for him would not appreciate the way he obviously takes the votes and voters for granted and would rather spend the evening in the pub.
