So - Who replaces Tone?

It looks like the backstabbers are now out in force. Whether you love Blair or loathe him, it seems that the majority in the Labour Party are now out to get rid of him. Irrespective of what slimey tax-and-spend Chancellor Brown may assume, he does not have a god-given right to be the British Prime Minister; an election amongst the Party would be called for, should Blair resign.

Suppose you had a vote; whose name would you put the 'X' by?

By the way, this is not a secret ballot.

I voted Councillor Britcliffe,

Why should Hyndburn suffer alone?

Can we have 'none of the above' as a category please?

Actually, I think Greg is an excellent MP - he's not senior enough though to be in the running.

No, no, no - then I'd have to move out of the country. At the moment I'm only considering moving somewhere else in England.

TB could send them all away wiyh their tails between there legs by trying to hold on for another 12 months and calling an election. It would be win win for him for if Labour were voted back in it could be seen as a public mandate. If they lose non get the job and the rift in the party would be to blame. Personally I think Gogs Brown fae the Kingdom is worried that Labour will lose the next election and he wants his shot now. The more candidates there are if a challenge comes then the party will be split even more and could end up unelectable again.

Then why did he say he was working harder than ever on this election and why did he not arrive in the hall until he was phoned by a lackie to let him know he was winning?

At the end of the day I was scuppered by national politics and not by his great campaign - he knows that and you know that!

Its was your first election Gayle, Peter has always stayed away (in the nearest pub) until his own count is underway, why go through the vote verification process when he's seen it all before, 35 years is a long time attending counts, 23 years as a councillor.

You are worse than a broken recording of a one hit wonder, if this pathetic gloating is a sign of how the run of the mill tories act, nearly a week after their 'magnificient Landslide victory' I am glad I am not counted in their midst!
Are you this irritating to Peter as well? Is he perhaps relieved that you now have Gayle to play with, thus releasing him from having to suffer the rantings of the obvious pain in the *rse that you are?

If this is the case then he, (Peter) should, come on here and also write a letter to the Obo' thanking Gayle for her assistance.

Perhaps you are his P.R. man? If so, please keep up the good work your pettyness obviously knows no bounds and you serve to show just what life would be like if the masses did let your party regain power!

Yes it was Gayles first election and she accepted defeat in a very gracious manner it's a pity you and others can't accept victory in a similar manner!
Why go through the vote verification? The reason he should at least give lip service to it even if he is now so bored with the way that it is run, is to show his constituents that he cares and is concerned enough to turn up, (even if they didn't vote for him), that getting re-elected is important to him and that deep down he is a nice man and really cares!

By the way, what was the name of the Tory Councillor that was defeated? Her names on the tip of my lips, Jean? June? Oh well it doesn't matter now she's gone. How many years had she spent as a Councillor? (She isn't an ex relative by any chance, is she?).

18 months from now if you ever stop crowing, you had better be prepared to give Peter a lift with the elections because now, thanks to your encouragement I get the feeling she'll do an Arnold Schwartzenneger, she'll be back!

As your avator just ask the moderators for help putting it on site.
If you ask them nicely they might look for an even bigger clown to represent you,
Peter already has the biggest clown representing him.....
You!

Why should Gordon Brown replace Tone? Isn't he a Scottish MP, and don't they have their own little kingdom up there? Why should John Reid be at the Home Office? - he also has a Scottish constituency. If Gordon gets it, then it's not only Home Rule for Scotland but Away Rule as well.

Good point. With supposed devolution, and Scotland having it's own very, very expensive parliament, why are there still Scottish Members of Parliament at Westminster?

When I lived in Glasgow I had an MP in the Scottish parliament, an MP at Westminster and an MEP in Brussels. Total waste of money.

Must admit the carry on with having MP and MSP is a pain. As only certain powers are devolved to Auld Reekie then you have to work out wether your question can be at Westminster or Holyrood. The number of Westminster MP's were reduced but we still have I think 54. Untill its complete devolution of all powers from Westminster then they are still here and in theory Gogs fae the Kingdom can be PM of the UK. Might have till wait until the North Sea dries up before that happens.

Re: So - Who replaces Tone?

The only person who could replace President Tony is the deputy President, I mean deputy PM. (heaven forbid) That is why there is a PM and a deputy PM so that if the PM cannot function then DPM takes over until the PM can function again or the next national election or the party in power has an election to seek a new leader.

The PM cannot just hand over to his choice unless it is the DPM. But then President Tony has delusions of grandeur and he thinks that he can do anything he likes.

Whoever does take over will be handed a poisoned chalice with insufficient time to make an impression but just enough time to be blamed when Labour lose the next election.

It is time that party politics was taken out of government and we had MP’s truly representing their constituents and not ham strung by having to vote how the leader and whips dictate. Many of the more honest MP’s and yes there are many, are reluctant to vote as their conscience dictates because to do so they would lose the chance of a ministerial job and all the perks that brings. Ministers are appointed by the PM and if you cross the PM in some way you will never get onto the front benches. That is wrong, wrong, wrong!

It was reported yesterday on one news broadcast that two jags’ salary and extras grosses at nearly ONE MILLION POUNDS PER YEAR for doing next to nothing. I wonder what sort of hold has two jags got over Tony to get such a deal?
