Does anyone here fish?

I go fishing all the time locally and wondered if anyone does the same?

Is there much good fishing in the area then? I can't think of any prolific rivers in the Accy area, but things might have changed a bit since I was there.

I don’t, but a mate of mine fishes the cannel and he says that there’s fish in there, just what I don’t know.
:)

I live close to the Bridgewater Canal and it's well-stocked with fish so I would think the Leeds-Liverpool is too, these days.

Raz, don't you find it a bit boring? I used to go sea fishing off Whitby pier, when we lived there donkey's years ago, and that could be quite exciting when the tide turned. The kids used to catch coley and insisted on having them grilled for their tea - there were more bones than fish but, hey, they'd caught them themselves. I can see that salmon fishing might be good too, with the battle against the fish trying to swim up the river, but I've never understood sitting for hours on a canal bank. I think I'd probably fall asleep. :D

yeh i go fishing best thing to do is to sign up to hyndburn and blackburn angling club you can do this from ossy tackle shop and its only a £10 for under 16's its good as they have some very good waters like butts mill in great harwood and they also do teachings every other saturday were you can go along and they teach you new skills then you fish a match with all the other people there and you get prizes for coming 1st, 2nd, 3rd but if you dont you still get a prize but not as good as coming i top 3

Does haggs not belong to Accrington Anglers? Or have hyndburn and Blackburn taken it over.

If you do go fishing, no mtter what make sure that you have and take with you, an EA license.
The EA are currently having a fair old blitz on license dodgers and the fines are much more than the mere £24 cost of one.

I don't know about in Accy, but there is a new water at Cornfield Farm, Burnley, off Padiham road. It's a fiver a day and is well stocked with bags of £40-60 taken daily.
