Well Done Tom, Tom!

In an effort to make their Sat' Nav' system appear less annoying than everyone elses Sat' Nav' system Tom, Tom have come up with the most irritatingly stupid set of adverts yet to be seen on British Television with their Doug, Doug and that other one that I have thank goodness completly removed from my brain, Doesn't that blonde woman look strrrange?

I wonder will all their customers be called Gordon, Gordon, after all, a person would have to be twice the normal moron to buy it because of this lousy campaign, (no entwisi now is not the time to show us a new picture of your latest in-car toy, please, try not to embarrass yourself!:D).

Not, Tom, Tom, but, Glug, Glug!

Re: Well Done Tom, Tom!

If we look at the advert in context it is designed to make us think life is lost without one. So what do you do without a TT get lost?. As for avoiding jams its easy if planed ahead and the only thing that would stop the trip is an RTA and as they are broadcast on the radio. If if navigation is bad it would be cheaper to have someone phone you to let you know what road to avoid. In this gadget mad age things like map reading is becoming a dying art.

I've got to back Chav1 up here. I too have a Tom Tom, and the amount of petrol that thing has saved me is amazing, it will have certainly made me back the amount I paid out for the thing.

They are much safer than driving and trying to read a map/directions at the same time - I've never managed to master the art of that especially if it's also dark at the time.

I use a Garmin Aviation Gps, with road maps added. It have served me very well over the years.
There is one cavet with all of this though, the sat nav we all use and rely on is Navstar GPS, owned and looked after the United States of America's Department of Defence. As such they can alter the GPS signal and turn it off at will, this is something we in aviation like to remember, as you could find yourself stuck in the middle of nowhere. It is very reliable and as none of us live in any war zone it is unlikely that George dubbua will turn off the civiy signal or play with it but...... I was informed by Balpa (British Airline Pilots Association) that the MOD have been testing blocking GPS signals recently.
Still I wish mine taked to me

This President might do it on a whim depending on what side of his pit he roled out of in a morning. Relying on something that can be interfered with at will is a bit scary.

As for ending up in the middle of nowere because it had been "fiddled with" isnt the be all and end all as too much bevvy can do that as well. :o

People have been getting around without these systems for thousands of years so whats the problem ?
you should not be relying on them.

Cheers chav I think??

I can read a map and road signs because I aint seen a TT fitted to a mountain bike yet. Someome could make a fortune if they found a reliable way to tell and show you the quickest way down a hillside. :p :D

How sure can ou be that the driver knows were he is going? In Aberdeen they hired some drivers due to a serious shortage and the passengers had to show them were to go just so they could get home in time.

Yes I am serious about this one.

I don't have Tom Tom or any other kind of navigation gadget. I was a community midwife for 9 years and never once got lost. I tend to follow road signs when I'm driving.......You know......the old fashioned way. It works for me and I always get to where I want to be.:D

i thought women would appreciate tom tom as it allows more time to look in the mirror and apply their make up ?

i guess the older folk are affraid of change and are a little slower at learning how to use new things , i hear less still believes that cameras steal your soul and still beleives that the wheel is the devils work :)

aparently he went into a psychotic episode when somone showed him a razor and thought somone had stolen half his face when it was used on him :D

I am a map freak... I can sit down and look at one for hours as entertainment.. I can use one quite well as well.

But I have a TOM TOM in my Van/Car and think it is ace. It takes a bit of learning to get the best out of it but would be very inconvienced without it now.

Postcode :):)

Because Tom Tom doesn't bail you out, if you've broken down.
