What it means to be British..

One of the British national daily newspapers is asking readers "what it means to be British"

Being British is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer, then travelling home, grabbing an Indian curry or a Turkish kebab on the way, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese TV.

And the most British thing of all?

Sorry to mention, 'blackburn raver' and 'cpcman', but to be English is to be part of the biggest cultural hybrid in the history of the world. You'll struggle to find a country that doesn't house some of your ancestors in the modern world.

The most absurd thing is that the flag-molesting amongst us thoroughly believe that Blake's "green & pleasant land" still lies strong; when in fact we are seeing Orwell's 1984 unravel before our eyes in an embarassed excuse for a kingdom.
