Trolls.

Whilst looking at Kipax's photographs I noticed one of his sites is called Trolling.

Thinking it an interesting title I thought I'd take a look.

Do we have any trolls on Accy Web?

An Internet "troll" is a person who delights in sowing discord on the Internet. He (and it is usually he) tries to start arguments and upset people.

When I went to Mount Pleasant Primary School in Ossy, aka Hippings Methodist, we reckoned that there were trolls under the bridge over Tinker Brook, just across t'other side of Union Road.

deantwerpen 29-06-2006 08:42

Re: Trolls.

Too frightened to look.

With hindsight I suppose that we were told that to stop us going there and possibly falling in.

BTW the word Hippings means stepping stones and I remember being told that there were ancient stepping stones over Tinker Brook.

Yes, but now you have said you like him he will resume his onslaught.....:)

How many friends have you got on facebook that you don't actually know?
Lots of folk send out friendship requests on there without actually knowing the people they are befriending.

It seems to be a craze to ask people you don't know to be 'friends'

I did toy with breaking the 'friendship' with Bee...but I think that would be mean spirited....and I would always try to help a new member, whether they were a friend or not.

Or when a certain person, keen on questions, sent me a third p.m. tonight, asking about my avatar.

This time demanding to know what my last three were.

Very nearly got grumpy, but deciding troll genocide would be more fun, went for the latter option.

No more answers from me, to the most inane of questions.

I told you Neil, I am not mean spirited.......and about the axe murderer thing.......NO! He is too interested in retail outlets to have time to think of such gory pursuits....and his search skills don't appear to be up to much, or he would not need to ask all the questions that he has been bombarding us with.

Bee's not on his own.

He's never made one single post, other than when talking about trolls, in which he's been nasty, obnoxious, or said stupid things, just to proke a reaction, like a juvenile attention seeker.

Bee's made some friends on here.

I don't find his posts offensive, and since so many are putting the knife in, I thought it might cheer him up and annoy them - it did - got red karma for it;)

It comes to something when people here decide who can be your 'friends'

No Steve. I actually have him on ignore.(I find his posts incredibly tedious...the third person singular doesn't endear him to me......I know others may see it as refreshing or novel) So, had his post not been quoted, I would not have been able to see what his post was.
It is churlish of him to castigate Bee, and to make personal insults about him(calling someone ugly is a personal insult, rather than a joke)...I'm sure when he reads the post back to himself he will see this....and then offer yet another worthless apology.

It wasn't just any post Margaret. It was the post in which he insulted Bee....calling him ugly.....and making reference to perspiration avoiding his face...it is nasty and immature.

I do not dictate to anyone who they can have as friends and certainly would not give negative Karma to someone who wanted to have either Groove or Bee as their 'Friends', and as you know Margaret, I am moderate in my views.

I don't find Grooves posts offensive in the main...(apart from when he calls me by any name which isn't mine - I will let him know when he can refer to me in any of the diminutives of the name Margaret)but I do find his habit of posting in third person tedious, and choose not to read them.

I do hope this clarifies my position.

Steve, each to their own.......you are entitled to your opinion.
I admit that his posts have generated a lot of responses...that is what Trolls do....they toss out a contentious or controversial idea, sit back and watch the fireworks.

Although I am playing devil's advocate, it is fair to say that Bee started the attacks on Groove (see his last few posts in this and other threads). However, Bee does have the excuse of being a child, whereas Groove's posts can be childish and coarse at times.

The moderators have had written permission from his parents now, allowing him to post, in accordance with this forum's rules, regarding members who are children.

I accept what you are saying, but it is never acceptable to hurl personal insults at another member...in fact unless I am sadly mistaken it is against the rules.

Now Groove could have scored some brownie points by ignoring Bee's very childish posts...they are childish because he is a child with much in life still to learn......whereas, unless Groove has misled us too, he is a grown man, and should be able to take the immature ramblings in his stride.

Sad when so-called grown-ups have to pick on others.

A detente?

More of an "Entente Cordiale" perhaps - and before anyone sends me unsigned red karma for using a foreign language again -this is a widely used expression which has been incorporated in to common English usage:rolleyes:

Er, I thought that was more or less what I said in my post. And I did say I was playing devil's advocate!

Reminds me of a scene from The Simpsons where, in the middle of an argument, Homer says "do you mind if I play devil's advocate"? then he walks over to a pinball machine called "Devil's Advocate"!

Yes you did......I was underscoring what you had said, also pointing out that it was an infringement of the rules too.

Groove had no idea Bee was a minor and admits that his attempt at humour was out of order...Groove apologises.

I too always thought Bee was an adult, (until rcving a message telling me so a couple of days back) never entered my mind that a child would be on what I would consider an adult site. He might have permission from his parents, but I don't come on here to chat, or offer my opinions to a child, so I will not be apologising for any comments previously directed at Bee, child or adult if someone's annoying, they're annoying.
