Where is it?

Okay all week they've said on the weather forecast and on the web that today we were going to get thunderstorms and lightening and rain. Well where is it?

I took a raincoat to work with me because I'm always getting caught out - I walked back into Haslingden feeling like an idiot carrying it! And I wasnt the only one who had took a coat to work with me.

Are we not going to have any thunderstorms etc? Decided to bypass us after Sunday? It's been hotter than ever here.

Re: Where is it?

I can hear it but it is still some way away yet. I reckon that if it doesn't bypass Accy, we'll get it within 30-40 minutes..:D

Re: Where is it?

Well apparently so I've been told, Rawtenstall made the news at 10, with flash flooding. Waterfoot, stacksteads and bacup also suffered from flloding, basements were flooded, wheelie bins were floating down roads.
Here, all we've had is god having a tantrum, throwing things about, bit of lightning and ...................drizzle.

Haslingden Cricket Club got it - they were flooded!

Can hear the rumblings of thunder now. Not as many cars and lorries on the road now.

Now do I shut my windows?

? 'Aint reached me yet, Bert, bone dry and expect you are probably only a few hundred yards away. Can hear the rumbling of course.

Have you noticed how sounds carry in this type of weather ...can hear night shifts, people talking, cars on the M65 which you never hear in 'normal' conditions. Know probably scientific, but eerie at times.

Re: Where is it?

Had my dose of thunder and lightning and got in afore it hit. Only asted 15 mins so it could be classed as a shower I suppose. :(

Re: Where is it?

Well it is spitting at the moment, and the thunder is rumbling, but it isn't as bad as the other day. I really hope it doesn't by-pass us.

Just been for a picnic up Grane Rd reservoir and the thunder started whilst we were there, then it started spitting. The heavens opened just AFTER we got in the car - phew!

It rained torrentially in Ossy at around six pm. Driving to Accy a short time after by the time I got to Antley the roads were dry and people were still in shorts, unlike my neighbours who were liked drowned rats hurriedly getting in their washing and jumping massive puddles.

Re: Where is it?

It rained here all day by the looks, it was raining when I left but didn't get to colchester or anywhere near, but was still raing when I got back, so it must have been really slow moving rain clouds.

That electric blip could have been lightning a few miles away, or some idiot electrocuting themselves. my pc reset the other day and the lights dimmed.
Although it could mean the cable in the road is going. The cable here burned out, although some say it was my fault and I overpowered it with christmas lights, I'm stll denying it.

Re: Where is it?

It’s another hot, humid night up here. No sign of Thunder, lighting or anything resembling rain. Last night was very uncomfortable and tonight shaping up to be the same. I’m thinking of getting the mossy net out and sleeping out side if this continues.

Madhatter 05-07-2006 23:49

Re: Where is it?

hmmm, if you leave your windows open all evening till you go bed, do you end up with a room full of green fly, knats, moths and god knows what flying around ? I was thinking of bying some netting from our new crappy aldi store but I can't see how that works, I wouldn't be able to close the window with it on, I'd have to keep taking it off. Id buy an insectacuter but pete said thats cruel, I'm not allowed to kill insects.

Re: Where is it?

Well im gutted not a single flash apparently wales got it last night according to metcheck & no forecasts for anymore unless it wants to sneak a few here lol:D Altho we are set to have the hot weather back next week once it cools tommorow - according to metcheck.

Re: Where is it?

My Mum said it lashed it down in Ossy, huge raindrops! yet here in sunbaked Accy it remained dry with the odd rumble of thunder! Very odd how these things can be so localised!

WillowTheWhisp 06-07-2006 21:23

Re: Where is it?

We got some very loud cracks of thunder last night and I was sure it would rain, brought the washing in and close skylight window.

Not a drop fell.

Tonight I've left some washing out. What do you reckon? Will it be OK by morning?

Madhatter 06-07-2006 21:27

Re: Where is it?

Had two here in the last two hours. I left the windows open and got puddles. It was cascading down the stairs like niagra falls.

With the weather being as predictable as North Korea It would be safer to bring it in.
