Should concrete bridges be painted?

Should concrete bridges be painted to blend in with their surroundings?
I think so, I don't mind an old viaduct or something like that but have a pet hate about concrete ones - they look awful
Sure there is a way of colouring the concrete instead of leaving it that shi**y colour
Below is a picture of one down the Dunkenhalgh, I have adjusted the hue/saturation on the bridge to blend it in with the country, which looks best?
Dont go off my painting, it was only a quick outline of the bridge :)

I think the one you have altered looks best. Maybe the concrete could be treated with something that would encourage moss and lichen to grow on it.....though I am not sure if this would compromise the structural strength.......I'm sure there will be someone out there who would be able to tell us.

That reminds me i've got to go and take the tower.
The green bridge looks much better. I suppose there's some bull excuse of they cant paint it because they need to inspect it.

There's a nice bridge on the 62. I think I've got a pic of that somewhere. big arched one across the motorway.

Looks good and would do the trick but what about in the winter and the change in colour then?

think your looks much better K.S.H..surely they could put some kind of dye in the concrete or something similar..

Yes, they should be painted but let's not go green, why not pink, blue, orange with yellow dots? Let's get creative folks!

I think all cars and busses should be green as well for the same reason. Could you paint the vehicles green as well please to prove my point?

Why not go the whole hog and get them covered in graffitti art.:p:D

Re: Should concrete bridges be painted?

No, I'm talking stripes or spots, just something colourful, not grafitti.

I suppose it depends on your vantage point from where you view the bridge.

Looking up at the grey concrete from the Motorway, it would blend in with the colour of our skies for ninety percent of the year.;)

Re: Should concrete bridges be painted?

eh? grass is always green, especially over the other side of the bridge. Even in winter it would still blend.
Can tell K.S.H is a photographer.

Re: Should concrete bridges be painted?

They don't have to be green just something that blends in, very light grey hardly blends in with the country, got to agree it does a bit with our sky though as its rarely blue is it. If its an area that passes through a town, take the housing estate at bury for an example by the M66 where all the houses are in red brick, why not colour it red to match the houses.

SPUGGIE J - I think that particular colour would blend in summer and winter, its not a grass green, thats why I did it dark like an army green

Neil - NO I hate green cars :)

SPUGGIE J - Graffiti I can live with when its done properly (see here), can honestly say its better than the shi**y grey

Madhatter - No i'm not, just an hobby that I enjoy :)
