It was mentioned in another thread about my dislike of cabbage ever since I experienced school dinner time..........but what other food is there that makes you puke..........
One of my chatters in my Msn room in Australia is in love with brains.........told him on more than one occassion .......her doesn,t have any....... |

Eggs - they do actually make me ill! I can eat a fried egg with the white cut off but thats it! Omelettes, scrambled, boiled cant stand them. Goes back to when i was a kid and tried to make a cooked breakfast for mum & dad to get me out of trouble and threw some eggs in the frying pan and went looking for bacon to cook. Put the lid on the frying pan and when I went back to the cooker because couldnt find any bacon - whoosh the pan went up in flames. A good job my bro was sleeping on the settee! After that cant stand them.
By the way someone else has to fry the eggs! |

Cheese............cooked or not, I hate the feel of it and the smell of it. I can't remember ever tasting it as it's something I've avoided all of my life.
I was in Majorca on holiday and wandered into a supermarket. They had the biggest cheese counter I've ever seen. I had to run out and was well 'poorly' in the street. Yuck! |

TRIPE......any kind of tripe , it's like swallowing phlegm .
Iranians make a dish called Kalapache and Mexicans make a dish called Menodu, both are a grey greasy stew of guts and brains, both equally disgusting , though I do admit to being partial to sauted sweetbreads still have bad dreams of another message telling how jelly babies were made in the TB/ consumption ward .......(not sure but I think it was one of Grannyclarets gems ) |

Nowt really does it for me but one of my mates at work is in the Philipines at the moment doing some training of our staff there. They have a 'delicacy' called balut which is an egg that contains a pretty much developed duck foetus, they cook it in the shell, you crack it, drink the soup then chew on the duck before swallowing, feathers, bones and all.
I'll provide a picture of what it looks like later. |

Balut are available at farmers markets here in California 2 for $1, as the previous poster mentioned it's a filipino delicacy .....supposedly it's very high in potassium and good for male potency (organic viagra), the correct way to eat it is to hold it by the duck bill , pop it in the mouth and suck ............. similar to the small songbirds which you can buy roasted on skewers in middle- east souks ....which are actually quite tasty
forgot to say , Balut is not cooked but is a partially incubated duck egg |

I hate peppers and raw onion but they don't make me puke. Anything that did make me puke I'd just avoid.... That Duck thing might come close..:D

eeeeeewwwww.... Looks disgusting. Who in their right mind would shove that in their gob. I'm sure that some of these countries invent disgusting food and call them delicacies just to see how far gullible tourists will go when on holiday.:D

out of normal english food, and the list so far tripe, i've never tried it, but don't like the sound of it. Most of the stuff you lot have mentioned I actually like and are my favourites, cheese, brussels, broth, mushrooms, eggs, all yummy.
Curries I can't stand, and can not understand why all english people seems to love the rubbish, mez I'm shocked at, other than my ex of 10 yrs, and my nan, you are the only female I know of that doesn't like curry. Chinese, pizza, italian, english take aways yes but not curry. |

Boiled green cabbage is enough to turn me green. Red pickled cabbage and sauerkraut is ace.
Brussel sprouts and most other green vegetables. Swede and turnips. Most shell fish. Tripe is absolutely disgusting. Rare cooked meat. Yuk! And twice yuk! The fat off any meat. Crispy bacon fat is OK though. Not that you can get the modern bacon to crisp. I buy dry cured bacon and that will get crispy. That milk pudding that looks like frog spawn. Can’t remember the name now. |

Will have a do at most things but draw the line at snails and tripe! Also strongly dislike courgettes;it's a texture thing !

Angel Delight, don't ask me why, it just nauseates me. I agree with Grannyclaret too, raw tripe with salt and vinegar is lovely stuff but cooked tripe is awful, it looks like snot and it smells like poo.

Think it would probably be easier to list the foods I like than what I don't because the list is endless.
I'm a very fussy eater when it comes to my food. The ones that would probably have me puking are curries, Chinese food, pizza's anything with herbs and spices. Tripe, liver, black pudding and sea food. These are only a fraction of what I don't like. |

A couple of "delicacies" from Dixieland are on my do not eat list...
Boiled okra (slimy and nasty). I will eat okra if it is in a nice soup or gumbo, as I don't notice the consistency so much. Fried okra is okay. Boiled peanuts. Bleah! Items not from Dixie: If it's raw fish or steak tatare, please give it to someone else! And, just for the record, I've been served pizza so many times, I really could care less if I ever had it again. It's not that I dislike it, I'm just tired of the same old same old. |

I have waited and waited before posting on this thread, It has taken that long to type the words "Apple Sauce!" There, I done it - - and I can feel the bile rising!:sick:
I LOVE anything "apple." Strudle, Tarts, Baked - - - but cannot go near that sauce. I REALLY feel sick telling you this, but I will persevere. In Primary School, when pork is on the menu, we always had that A**** S****, but were given the option of whether we wanted it or not. I ALWAYS said "no" but the cook ALWAYS used the same ladle to put cabbage on my plate which is another of my hates but HAD to eat it - - and it had scrapings of THAT STUFF on it. Excuse me, gotta go and throw up - - Thats better, hope my spellings ok, don't want to read what I have just typed - - |

I have a long list of foods that make me upchuck......Curry...even the smell of it makes me feel very ill. Tripe...too much like snot......oysters likewise.
Kippers....again even the smell makes me nauseous.....Liver.....cannot stand the stuff. Aubergines...hate them.........Celery....cooked or raw it is an abominable vegetable. Parsnips and sweet potato....do not like these at all. I'm sure there are more....but I can't think of them at the moment. |

Squid i dont like and have had snails (no salt) not nice and i have been known to eat worms as a child love oysters and most seafood shark stake crab ect love it will try anything once.

Just been reminded Anne once bought me some periwinkles from asda in a sealed bag now i do like them from the fish market but when i opened these onto a plate they started crawling about talk about fresh hehe i had to cook them.
i said to anne look they are moving she would not beleive me till she saw them . The only thing i have not tried and would love to try is lobster but they are to expensive |

Lobster isn't really like crab much and actually has a stronger taste.
I've tried most things and can honestly say that there are very few things that I dislike - in fact, curries that are too hot (love milder ones) and bananas (but only because they're slimy and not because of the taste) and that's about it - love haggis, black pudding, squid, frogs legs, snails, curry, in fact, most of the things that everyone else has listed. I'm forever having a go at Chris because he won't try new stuff whereas I'll always give everything a go once. |

I cant stand any sea food exept for tinned salmon. Black puddin and haggis ewww.
Parmisan cheese smells like sweaty socks. Don't like any veggies except for carrots, tomatoes, cabbage, baby cabbages, onions, potatoes ( mashed or baked ) oh and lettuce an beetroot. The only meat I like plain cooked is steak, bacon and boild ham. I can take or leave chicken no skin. |

I'm like Gayle, I eat just about everything - except Angel Delight. I love offal (liver, kidneys, raw tripe, mmmmmm!), relish all green vegetables especially spinach, will eat all breeds of "foreign" food, adore all shellfish (I will kill for an oyster) and I like my meat rare and bloody.
My husband was just like me and, in his travels around the world, ate and enjoyed things you wouldn't want to know too much about. When we were in Riyadh, though, we used to go to a Fillipino restaurant. The waiters there were lovely and always explained what was on the menu - except for one dish. When asked what this was they always said, "English don't like". There was only one interpretation, of course, and I could never have eaten it in a million years. Yes, you guessed. :( |

There is a variation in likes and dislike s here some down to the cruelty of school. :eek: At the end of the day like Gayle I will try anything because if you dont how can you say you dont like it? I wonder how much of the offal hating goes back to when these people were younger?

Ah, now I understand. Surely it just tastes like chicken or beef. Wouldn't bother me, I eat meat so I don't think I can judge anyone else for eating dog or horse meat when I'd quite happily chomp into a slice of cow!

It's the emotional thing with me, I'm afraid. My husband and his colleague adopted a little stray dog that hung around their office in Riyadh. They called her Sexy, as she was always "humping" your leg, and they fed her and fussed her and made her a little kennel. They had to go to Jeddah on business and left the Fillipino engineers in charge for a few days. When they got back there was no sign of Sexy - the Fillipinos had eaten her. When questioned the engineers smiled, sympathetically, and shrugged. Different culture, different tastes, but it was upsetting for us soft Westerners.

I have cooked and eaten camel's testicles. I didn't really know how you were supposed to cook them so I cut them up, rolled them in flour and fried them. They were - quite nice! ;)
