|
Re: Local Radio
Wow that was quick!
I can't tune in either but I'd be interested to know what you think! |
Re: Local Radio
Why don't they do some work instead of playing at shock jocks? Is this what the taxpayer's money is going on? These kids should stick to the 3 'R's enforced by a length of bamboo cane thats what I say - and if they can't do that then send 'em out to work......no wonder the kids are out of control......

Re: Local Radio
Tuned in the Mount Carmel radio station, good selection of music, interviews etc.... in reply to the above, maybe from getting this kind of experience it will broaden their options when they leave school, and give them a better chance when getting a job.
I know I would have liked to have the chance to do something like that when I was at school. Well done and keep up the good work Mount Carmel. Quite professional job. |
Re: Local Radio
By the way who is doing the news bulletins,,voice sounds familiar.

Hi all, this is my first post. I'm Michael and I'm a presenter on MCR and would like to thank you all for you comments, we've been reading them and they've helped us to style our programmes. :)

Re: Local Radio
Good evening this is Pinky's mum, WHY do they call him that??? :-/
I tuned in to MCR today and I must say that I was quite impressed, I thought I must reply to Tealeaf's post regarding "the kids are out of control". These young people, (I call them young people rather than kids because each one of the presenters came across as very professional and organised individuals) are learning life skills that will stay with them and stand them in good stead in their future careers. These skills cannot be taught without practical, hands on experience. My hat goes off to Mount Carmel for giving them opportunities that where not available when I was at school. A Waste of tax payers money? I think not!! |
Re: Local Radio
Well said mum of pinky.Practical experience cannot be replaced by books. Also gives you an insight in to what you could be getting in to in later life.
|
Re: Local Radio
I agree with pinkys mum, give the kids a chance, just because they are young does'nt mean they know nowt.

Sorry! I thought it was yesterday :o :-X Quite a few other schools in East Lancashire have done a similar broadcast, and they have all gained from the experience I'm sure. Well done MC. We had nowt like that in my day.... ;D |
Re: Local Radio
I take it "finished at 6pm" means finished permanently. Good. Get the kids back to what they should be doing, i.e. learning. Thats whats schools are for.
If all you trendy do-gooders want the kids to play around on the radio, then buy 'em a CB set or set up a local radio station. But don't do it with my money. Taxes are being wasted on enough drivel without funding this nonsense as well. :o :o |
Re: Local Radio
Hello!
Sorry couldn't tune in but I have a question: What is Mount Carmel Science College? Is it the new name for the sixth form? As an ex-pupil I am intrigued..... can you let me know Pinky? |
Re: Local Radio
Couldn't have said it better mum of pinky

Try not to take much notice of tealeaf people. Hes just looking to wind people up. Its a little bit of envy as they have nothing like this at his school, i think he should be due to leave soon and at 47 years old not a minute too late!!! ;D |
Re: Local Radio
Well, thats it, its over [smiley=bye2.gif]
MCR is gone, and i'll never be a presenter again (unless they do another one). We were all extremely sad, and if you were listening at about 6pm, we all sang 'The time of our lives', all 20 presenters and 10 administrators, in a room 2 square meters big. In reply to the 'Is Mount Carmel Science College the new name for 6th form', no it isn't. Mount Carmel hasn't had a sixth form since about 1991, all this title does, is shows that we are a school that specializes in the three sciences. |
Re: Local Radio
Good God tealeaf, you are a naughty boy.Been reading about your censorship and now this???? What is all this talk about your taxes paying for this you are not the only person paying them.Sounds like you would have them all in the stocks and throw rotten fruit or summat at em :-X

Re: Local Radio
Whilst I'm here, I might as well mention another radio project for the Blackburn area.. check out http://www.the-bee.com
.. a new local radio station for Blackburn and Darwen. Comments please! |
Re: Local Radio
Sorry to say, not as good as The Burn when it was on earlier this year.
Good luck with your application, but I think the Burn will beat you to it. Their programming in the second stint they did was more 'in tune' with the audience they were aiming at. |
