on a follow up note...

why the hell build a brand spanking multi million pound "super hospital " and then transfer or send women to a far less superior hospital 15 or so miles away. ??...its beyond belief to me

i'l gaurantee you sumatt tho my missus will be giving birth at home.(when we have kids)..no child o mine is being born in dingleville..:D :D

Being born in burnley will give the child a head start in life - claret and blue is a better colour than blue and white. blue and white is a cold combination - claret & blue is a warmer combination.

:D :D :D :D :D :D

Husband Dave was even more scathing. He said: "Have a baby in Burnley? No thanks. That would put me off straight away.
"This has certainly spelt the end for any future baby boom."
That quote came from the father of a child born at Queens Park Hospital in Blackburn

:D

Re: Born In Burnley...

due to the reorgiansation of the hospitals and the "down-grading" of Burnley A&E it was stated at the outset of the "public" meetings/consulations that this would happen and that elective surgery will be held at BGH wih the Peads at RBH NICU to be at BGH

Re: Born In Burnley...

Rather than be concerned about who is born where people in Burnley and surrounding areas are more concerned that more people will die because they will have to get them to Blackburn for A&E. Ten minutes according to Jack Straw, well yea it will be with a chauffuer driven car and a police escort

My sister lives near Kidderminster. When I visited in 2004 she showed me the lovely new hospital there. Only one problem. After the facility was built, the government decided it didn't have enough money to staff the place with doctors so it is now operated entirely by nurse practitioners and RN's. If you have a real emergency, such as a heart attack, you have to go all the way to Worcester.

The biggger picture is.. the Dingles and the Walkers won't know wether they are a dingle or a walker.. because born in burnley means you have been born in Burnley.. simple as that

Ten minutes from Blackburn to Burnley? You can't even get from Blackburn to Accy in ten minutes!

I agree that people will probably die because they don't get to hosputal quick enough. It's madness.

I must admit though I smiled at the headline as if it was the worst possible thing that a Blackburn family could experience to have a child born in Burnley.

I was kind of accidentally born in Blackburn because my mother lived in Hapton and I was supposed to be born in Burnley but she was visiting relatives and I suddenly decided to put in an appearance so they took her to the nearest one.

And on a lighter note the worst thing that could happen if you die as you get to the hospital in Blackburn is that they mistake you for one of the regulars at Deadwood and give you a season ticket with the rest of the stiffs :Banane06:

Born in Blackburn...born in Burnley...who cares? The saddest fact of all is that Accrington parents cannot have their babies born in Accrington anymore.
