Christmas shopping? Wow.. No, I haven't yet.

I've only just bought my friend's birthday present, and her birthday's in november. Hmmn, I guess I should start looking around for Christmas presents. :P

Yes, I think I got the first Christmas presents for this year sometime in July......sad old bird that I am!

Re: Have You Started Yet ?

I started some time ago. When I see something that would make an appropriate gift for someone on my list, I make the purchase.

Of course, when I was in the UK in July, did a pretty fair amount of shopping for Christmas.

I keep a 'Treasure Drawer'....I add gifts to this all year round and when a birthday creeps up on me...as they sometimes do, I go and see what presents I have in my 'Treasure Drawer'.

Jimmi5bellies......just out of curiosity how much do the change counting machines at asda charge you ? here in California the machines in the supermarkets charge 8.1/2 % , extortionate in my view , but the banks refuse to take coins in quantity unless counted and wrapped into rolls and even then charge a fee.
I think some banks on the east coast have free coin counting machines but not here , maybe someone can put me straight .

chavmas guide follows ..

2: over power the chav and hang him with the rope that he uses as a leash for his staff or pitbull

3: roast the for-mentioned dog in teh oven on a slow heat for 8 hours

4: serve the dog with mixed vegitables and an garnish with an appropiate stock

5: help your self to the chavs 8 inch thick gold look alike chain

6: discard any animal bones into the burbery cap form the deceased chav

7: pat your self on teh back for removing both a piece of scum and a dangerous animal from teh planet

8: use his mobile to ring his girlfriend to come round and have yourself a hoe hoe hoe whore , merry xmas :D

I think its 7p for every £1 but if you are using the machine for money collected for a charity that is registered to the machine there is no charge.

I bank at Commerce Bank here in New Jersey. All branches have free coin counting machines. Very useful!

I've never encountered any bank that charged for taking properly counted and rolled coins here. Did have a bank that tried to charge an organization I belong to a "cash handling fee" but we promptly took our business elsewhere. There are a lot of nasty little bank charges these days if you are not careful.

Billcat .....I remember Andy Rooney doing a bit on 60 minutes and how his bank has them , must be an east coast thing, I dont know of a bank in the whole Bay Area which has them

Dunno when I will do the rest :o

Got Siobhan's at the weekend, we will be sitting down one night going through the argos catalogue and reserving everything online like we did last year, had everything collected and loaded into the car in half an hour it was so much easier.

PHEW .. you lot exhausting me already.

Now, time for me to relax .. not many relations .. daughter 41 .. too old for Chrissie pres., maybe gesture of bottle of perfume; son 24 .. earning more than me !!.. so new suit/clothing or cheque,; grandaughter 16 .. well, she loves trip to Afleck's Palace, so will spoil her; brother solvent, and agreed not to waste money spending on each other. Don't really want anything from them to be honest.

SOOoo ... after all those years of indulging on me kids and putting them first .. just going to be ME, ME, ME ....... can't wait to get started, bit like Scrooge in reverse :D

Oh yes, just the secret Santa at work ... five quid.

Re: Have You Started Yet ?

I remember the fun of buying for my children when they were little and the whole family thing. A proper Christmas.

It isn't celebrated until the 6th January here, Three Kings' Day, or twelfth night but the ex-pats do have the odd party here and there on Xmas Eve.

We did push the boat out last year and visited Iceland to buy a turkey and all the trimmings. Such a waste of time and money just for the two of us. Never again.

Having checked out the restaurant prices for this Xmas Day, I've decided against that too!! I haven't told 'im indoors yet but we are having a wander around the village, a few beers and then home for steak and chips!

Yes Jacky I got it for Zack lol. Great minds think alike. But then again there isn't that much difference in age. I think he will like his globe.

I have got a good few presents, and what's more some of them are wrapped too. AND....sad old git that I am, I have made gift tags from some of the prettier cards I received last year.......I like to think of it as being ecologically friendly...a recycling of sorts.

Bought the first Christmas pressie in the January sale. Organised, eh? - except that that is still the only one I'd bought up until the end of October! I always have good intentions of shopping throughout the year, but it never gets done. Son-in-law is easy, he is delighted with a case of wine, but what do you do about a daughter whose idea of the perfect Christmas present is a cartridge bag?

2 more pressies arrived today. :D

Good job my Alec dont believe in brand new games :D . Like he says second hand ones for a 3rd of the price work just as well as new ones, plus it also means i can afford to buy him more.
