Welcome to the Accrington Grand Prix

Is there going to be anything done about the number of mainly pakistani males driving like Stirling moss around our town? Now im a big car nut and love the sound of all the Subaru Impreza's and Mitsubishi Evos but dont want to see them tear down my street at stupid speeds espacially when there are children playing on there. Dont think im having a pop at people of other colours (im not a racist at all) but it is mainly them who drive such cars.

Re: Welcome to the Accrington Grand Prix

Why don't you pick up the phone and report some registration numbers to the Police?

silvermain 27-09-2006 17:29

Re: Welcome to the Accrington Grand Prix

I do but nothing happens unless they are seen doing 100MPH down our streets.

madmal_1 27-09-2006 17:58

racers

i have them up ormerod st and horn blowing at all times i confronted the police about this but they are not interested

Re: Welcome to the Accrington Grand Prix

lol i find it ironic that the advert under his complaint is for mitsubishi cars lol

now to stay on topic

nothing will be done , taxis are supposed to have 3 mot's a year i think it is and i have lost count of teh taxis i have seem with brake lights out , bits hanging off them and headlights not working etc

round where i used to live we had the same problem and teh added bonus that they were also selling drugs and using outside my house as teh drop off point and still the police didnt want to know

dont waste your time with the police just weld a few nails together and scatter appropiatly along teh road :D

While this plan is in action I think I'll use my pick up truck!

How about speed bumps? Are those allowed over there?

WillowTheWhisp 27-09-2006 20:25

Ormerod St has speed bumps. The 'zoom up as fast as you can' brigade seem to treat them like a fairground ride put there for their added pleasure.

They have some effect, it depends on what you drive. I hardly notice them. In fact I over took, carefully of course, a car on a speed bump the other day. He had fitted a front skirt so low he crawled over them hoping the skirt would not be ripped off. So you can waste a Mitsi Evo in an old diesel :D

If you are not racist then why did you mention the nationality. No need other than to point the finger at pakistani people. You are racist you just don't realise it.

SPUGGIE J 27-09-2006 21:20

Re: Welcome to the Accrington Grand Prix

All he was doing was pointing out who the majority of the culprits were. Would I therefore be considered racist in your opinion if I thought I had too many Chinese takeways near me?

Rubbish, he was just describing the offenders. Most of the cars mentioned won't be properly insured as they won't report the car modifications so the Police can do them for no insurance.

poppy 27-09-2006 21:34

Re: Welcome to the Accrington Grand Prix

I agree they are probabley not insured. Why does being a pakistani matter?

I have read many conversations on here over the last couple of weeks. about MPs, Binmen, Nurses, Schoolteachers and a lot of others. Not one of them mention that nearly all the MPs are white or mention that the binmen are white or mention the nationality at all.

But when it comes to crime it has to be mentioned that they are pakistani.

Argue the point all you want. You know deep down I am right.

WillowTheWhisp 27-09-2006 23:04

Re: Welcome to the Accrington Grand Prix

I haven't a clue what the ethnic origin of my binmen is. I never see them.

Re: Welcome to the Accrington Grand Prix

I know "silvermain" personnally. It was a poor choice of words, that's all. He's definately not racist. He was merely pointing out that the majority off the driver of the vehicles are ASIAN.

it does'nt its a fact, its the same down our street i have seen 1 white lady speeding,1 white lad speeding, and loads of asians speeding, that is not prejudice it is fact. sorry you seem to think otherwise poppy but thats the way it is.

poppy 28-09-2006 01:42

Re: Welcome to the Accrington Grand Prix

See you are arguing it. I agree most of them are pakistani or asian. I am surprised you found two white people. I have never said they are not pakistani or asian so please do not twist words to win a petty argument. this is beneath even you.

You are missing the point. In fact I think you get the point but are trying to win some sort of argument that does not exist.

Why the need to point out that they are pakistani or asian. They are illegal. they are doing wrong. why the need to seperate them from white people ?

Have a look at all the conversations you have joined in on this messageboard. have you ever felt the need to state peoples nationality ?

If the poster has wrongly chosen his words then so be it. he has a good reason. we all make mistakes. But that does not excuse the rest of you defending what you thought was a valid point.

People do bad things. Why the need to tell everyone they are pakistani when you would not do the same if they where white. that is the question and you all know the answer no matter what clever arguments you bring to the table. If they where white it would not be mentioned. deny it if you dare make fools of yourselves.

Right NOW can we get back on topic thanks

Re: Welcome to the Accrington Grand Prix

Poppy my little bundle of fluff im not a racist, i have friends who are asian (cheers jay) and get on very well with them. But looking back at posts in this topic it looks like it is a fact that people reconise and we are not saying all asians speed or drive silly but most cars that are "supt up" are driven by asians FACT.

garinda 28-09-2006 13:00

Re: Welcome to the Accrington Grand Prix

If Silverman had reported what he saw was mainly men driving would that be seen as sexist?

Surely everyone is entitled to say what they see, without being described as racist?

Cut all the political corectness bull.

We should all be able to say a spade is a spade if that is what in fact it is, no pun intended.

Before anybody thinks it, it’s not me with another account here. Not that anyone would. My spelling (courtesy of the spell checker) and grammar is better than that.

Poppy you are making a mountain out of a molehill and you are wrong to try and do so.

Oh shut up. If this person WAS to report the incidents to the Police, the Police are going to ask what colour they are, and what Nationality they looked like.. its a major help when finding criminals if you ask me.

Does this make the UK Police Force racist?!

Go join the PC BRIGADE!

Are you trying to convince yourself or the forum? "you know deep down I am right", stupid infatile drivers come from all walks of life it just seems uncanny that no one is brought to book. Who plays what card counts.

Then you are speaking to the wrong person in the Police. You need to speak to the Police Inspector for your area. Phone up and ask for him/her to phone you back or make an appointment to see him/her. Explain what your problem is and ask what s/he can do to help you.

Speeding cars boring, cheers Mick it looks like another thread just died.;)

Re: Welcome to the Accrington Grand Prix

During the day there isnt that much speeding going on through here - but once night falls and there isnt as much traffic the cars put their foot down especially taxis bringing people home.

Madhatter 29-09-2006 22:56

Re: Welcome to the Accrington Grand Prix

Bloody nightmare there during the day, n I nearly had a situatin with some twonk who parked a car and compressor opposite the pick up window at mc d's in the middle of the car park exit so he could drink his coffee, I had to wait till the drive through was clear cos he wouldn't move.
Aren't our roads busy nowdays, everywhere, the traffic in rawtenstall is horendous now the lights are feeding the Asda eyesore.

WillowTheWhisp 29-09-2006 23:10

Re: Welcome to the Accrington Grand Prix

It's amazingly quiet outside here at the mo. No boy racers or anything.

Have you read your PM Madhatter?

Madhatter 29-09-2006 23:17

Re: Welcome to the Accrington Grand Prix

its quiet here now but incredibly busy during the day to say we have a two bypasses.
Liverpool always amazed me, if i travelled south at 2 in the morning the main roads out would be dead, I could travel from city and only see a couple of taxis, from sefton park to the silver jubillee bridge I didnt see any.

If you have kids would you take the same view if one of these speeding cars knocked down and killed YOUR kid or any other member of your family? Your mum perhaps? Would you find that situation boring? Your own flesh and blood? I think not!

The point I was making that the thread was quite interesting until it got split into two, I didn't think Mick needed to do that as the two subjects where connected. I have kids and I have lost friends in road accidents but that was not the subject this time.

I too thought it was strange that we were warned about thread wandering, especially as the two things were connected, and made even more relevant by Poppy's comments.

You want to be on our street, its a cul-de-sac and the road is concrete. Ideal for speeding cars who want to do a handbrake turn by the turning point. Great for doing "donuts" as well.
