Another rubbish thread

Having one or two extra-curricular items to dispose of, Busman and I have just been to the tip. We thought we might as well take our collection of cardboard at the same time as we had a few large boxes filled with smaller boxes. (It's been that kind of a week.)

At the tip I was carrying one of the cardboard boxes towards the "Cardboard Only" skip when one of the workers there stopped me. "It's a bit full." Says he, pointing to the skip. "Stick it in with the non-recyclables." What????!!!!!

Now if I'd done that at home - put the cardboard in my wheelie bin - I'd have been liable to a fine for not recycling!!!

willow

well tbh as much as i'm annoyed with the guys at hte dump site for different reasons they go thru the rubbish to see if they can swap stuff over - so most likely it';ll get taken out once a new skip is put there

I'd like to be able to believe that but I somehow can't see it happening with loads of yucky junk getting dumped on top. It'll surely just get buried.

I read recently that last year most sorted waste went overseas to landfill.
Made me laugh all these PC people sorting their stuff, waste of time.
I think it was about 80% was deported, recyling couldn't handle it.

I read about it going overseas and they sort through it over there, China I think it was.

I really am in favour of recycling and reusing. I think it's irresponsible to have a throwaway attitude because we don't have limitless resources or limitless holes to bung it all in. I just think the council goes a bit OTT in its approach and then this makes a bit if a mockery of it.

I read it went to landfill but if I am mistaken then I apologise.
