Chaigley Manor

Is it open or closed?  My kids used to love going there for a week.

I note theres a meeting to be held of the Chaigley trust on the 3rd of November and its open to all. Its in the Queen Elizebeth rooms at Scathcliffe house (f you go then look out in the foyer for my accy stanley pics)

Looks like i was misinformed, sorry about that.

Re: Chaigley Manor

Janet as far as I can see you got it right.. You said its now a private house and thats what the article says.. business man bought it for 600k and turned it into a private house..

The AGM is because the trust is still going...and it would seem at least 600k in the kitty :)

janet 03-10-2003 14:05

Re: Chaigley Manor

with all this money, could the trust not reopen somewere else or would it take more money than the 600k. they must have made a fair amount of interest on the money by now.

It was really creepy actually but our room all saw a lady and young boy walk through, then in the morning when we reported it, the other dorms had all reported the same thing. I've seen several things since this experience and it freaks me out every time, my other half thinks I just have an over active imagination but I'm wide awake every time and it happens when I least expect it:eek:

that was the same with many kids, a love/hate thing lol, but the original concept of chaigly was to give kids whose parents couldnt afford to take em. a holiday so on that basis alone it stands as a great place for kids.;)

Re: Chaigley Manor

i love chaigley! i went there when i was about 10 stayed there for a few days and it was when nicole and stephen had it too, they were a fab couple and even had kids of there own so we used to play with them, they bought a lamb and a kid goat for us and we named and cleaned them, we went for walks over the hills and even to camelot theme park, that was when they bought that big red bus! one of the helpers made a rope swing and he used to swing us high and we always thought we would get in trouble as we thought it was dangerous.
i also remember when i was in the brownies, back in the day, they used to have like a fun day, were there would be lots of stalls and games for everyone. as a brownie i would help out on different stalls. it was also the time when chris sutton used to play for blackburn rovers and he had a house not far from chaigley and every time we went past it on the bus we would be in awe simply because he was a famous footballer, we would pick the familiy up from school and they would take us all to a local park, they painted the big play room with huge drawings of disney characters and power rangers etc made it bright and fun.
they were fab days i was so upset when they closed it down, give me chaigley over living abroad anyday!!
