I’ve Got Five
OK! Hands up all those who thought that this topic was going to be about no claims bonus.
It isn’t, it is about remote controls in the house. I have five. One for the telly. One for the DVD player connected to the telly. One for the digibox. One for the stereo. One for my camcorder. In days of old when men were bold when TV’s had push buttons for the various channels I invented my own remote control for my telly. It was an 8 feet length of half inch dowel. |
Re: I’ve Got Five
Five in this room too but there are others elsewhere in the house.

Re: I’ve Got Five
They're more trouble than they're worth. I spend half my life looking for the wretched things after the kids have had them.

Re: I’ve Got Five
The Common Remote is noted for its breeding habits. Once you introduce 2 of these creatures into a home environment you will find, in no time, you have about half a dozen. They are shy by nature and tend to hide themselves away under chairs, on mantlepieces and on bookshelves. They may also, occasionally, migrate to kitchens, dining rooms and even bedrooms. Although easy to feed, they can exist on new batteries every few years, they do have a great desire to hibernate under cushions and down the backs of sofas. This habit should, where possible, be discouraged.

Re: I’ve Got Five
another problem would occur if somebody invented a remote to do all the things and more noted
1 for tv downstairs 1 for video downstairs 1 for DVD downstairs 1 for Sky 1 for Playstation 1 for tv upstairs 1 for video upstairs. and that is it would be incredibly difficult to use.  |

Re: I’ve Got Five
Being the only resident in my abode I don’t have any problems with missing remotes etc.
I have a rocking recliner chair that also swivels around and it has a pocket on the outside of each arm, which makes a perfect resting place for the DVD remote in one and the digibox. remote in the other. The TV remote lies in easy arms reach on a table next to my chair. The stereo remote lives on my computer table but the camcorder remote is still in the box. It will be used whenever I decide to start the long promised video diary, but I never seem to have the time. Oh! Yes! West Ender! That neat bit of prose deserves some Karma. I believe that it is possible to get a remote that will replace all the remotes but I think that you need an ology in something to be able to operate it unless you happen to have a six years old around. |
