Haircuts

How much everyone pay for a haircut, I usually go to Hairy Stories on Church Street and pay £6 for a cut which I think is reasonable, however as I work in Bolton, I just popped into a hairdressers there to make an appointment for lunch time.

Anyway to cut a long story, they quoted me £23 for a cut, yes £23, what would it cost for a ladies cut :(

Re: Haircuts

I pay £6.80 for a cut down here in Dartford which I think is good value as the girl spends at least 15 mins on me..It must be my big head [smiley=wave.gif]

i either go to Norman's in Clayton-le-Moors who charges £3.50 for a cut.

or I get my mother-in-law (who is a proper hairdresser) to do it in return for giving her a lift to the Asda!!!

Cyril Whittaker my dad a former barber from Burnley Road would have charged you 6p for a haircut, mind you that was in 1947, but with inflation 9p to you. Boys only though, although he did make an allowance for me his daughter, trouble was I looked like a boy for the first 16yrs of my life hahahahah

I'm trying to grow mine at the moment, but my mate trims it and normally charges £6 if I have a colour she charges £15 which is very cheap. Unfortunately she is on maternity leave at the moment, so I had to pay full price last timme I went to the hairdresser was about £15 for a trim and blow dry. :-/

ANNE 12-09-2003 19:44

Re: Haircuts

Steer clear of hairdressers. They always get scissor happy and dont know were to stop.
Trying to grow it again.

Jo 19-09-2003 06:52

Re: Haircuts

I pay 40 Euros (28 quid) for a wash, cut and blow dry and that's reasonable for here!! Rip off merchants! Usually try and wait til I get back to Accy and then go to Crowning glory in Clayton.

After developing my bald patch i had an option of 2 thíngs.Combing my existing hair from one side to the other or of it all comes. It all came off.Have to shave head twice a week.It works out to be more expensive than having hair. What with the oil and stuff you have to stop to keep the scalp from flaking. No more barbers for me

I pay £25 for a cut and up to £85 for colour but thats the norm in most salons Toni & Guy , Man & Boy, I have a friend who works from home she charges me £50 for colours but most of the time she is fully booked so have no option but to go to a salon.

As you might have heard, i have a reputation for being a bit of a tight twa*, oops sorry, language timothy. That's why I only pay 3 quid at Nutty Norman's down Clayton. :D

I go once every 6 months, looking like an orphaned yeti and come out 10 minutes later looking all respectable.

My husband goes to Norman...... and he thinks it is extortionate that i pay twenty quid for a cut and blow dry...... but I only go maybe 3 times a year.
He says Norman would do it for £3:50....... but Norman only knows one style.

I'm still reeling from Fibi's confession that she spends up to £85 to have hers dyed! Do you have any idea how much gin that would buy? I could be floating for days on that!

Re: Haircuts

If anyone wants the name and number of a good cheap mobile hairdresser just drop me a pm;its usually about £7 for a cut and £30 for colouring.

{not too sure what the stance is on advertising on here!**

Re: Haircuts

For the past two years, I have paid between £13-00 - £18-00 for a haircut! For that money, the hairdressers take their time and gives me the style that I want with all the gels and conditioners thrown in. I couldn't face going back to those backstreet butchers now. You only get what you pay for....

Re: Haircuts

The last haircut I had was a self styled blue mohecan which cost me about a fiver for the dye, why pay any more?

Tealeaf 18-01-2005 15:52

Re: Haircuts

Eighty-Five Quid? I get charged 3 quid at Alan's up Ossy but give him a fiver and say keep the change (that's 'cause I'm used to paying eight or nine quid down here). Mind you, last time I was back Alan's was full so I went to the Pa - ooops, Asian guy - at the top of India Street. He charged me 5 quid to nearly cut my head off as a few in the Stag later noticed. There was claret all the way down the back of my t.shirt. He won't be getting my custom again.

Wez, that comment is totally out of order!
You will be having some of the baldies on here going all dewey-eyed and reminiscing of the time when thry too had the choice of a mohican of their colour choice. :D
