School League Tables

Accymel and myself are sat here discussing secondary schools in the local area with 2 of our kids starting senior school in September. We can't find the official LEA League Tables for schools in East Lancashire for this year, does anyone know were abouts on the t'internet they've hidden them please?

Re: School League Tables

Wasn't there letters about this in the last two editions of the Observer?

Someone e-mailed all the schools, and only Rhyddings responded to the question of their league table results.

Sorry can't give anymore information, as I've just been recycled this morning.:D

Unfortunately had a word with my child about it & she still wants to go to that secondary school as most of her class is 'going to that school' being feeder for it going on her feelings altho was disappointed with results of it then for me she would go to hollins her second choice but then she would be going for my sake if to change order...so what do i do? Encourage her to go to school that has reasonable standing on league table or let her make the desicion she wants to go with hope of improvement now that they are bottomish:confused: She is a bright intelligent child & hope that the school will encourage that or risk her being let down educationally. What the heck has happened to mount carmel was such a great school with good rep now being pulled so far down.

Plus i have to take into consideration of getting her there & back safely & be here for my other one coming home from primary when i dont drive:( as only parent i cant be in 2 places at once - when you consider all the options as well as educational.

It's a real dilemma this one;we have been told to try and get my daughter into a grammar school;handily both the schools mentioned have their entrance exams on the same day.Have put down BRGS and just hope she passes the exam, even then no guarantee of getting in because of locality.Have gone for Haslingden High as second choice and Hollins as third.I don't rate any of the local schools at the moment except St Chris's,not a chance of getting in there as don't have 15 year church -going record signed by the Arch bishop of Canterbury or any of their other religious demands!

Why not adopt another child who is going to Hollins then they can go together, safety in numbers and all that. I'll ask around see if there's a child going spare

Tell me about it Lindsay  My lad goes to St Johns which is supposed to be the feeder school but because we aren't church goers it doesn't look likely that he'll be able to go to the school that he really wants to go to. I ease my own feelings about it by just thinking that if religion is more important to the school than having a very bright academic then that's their loss.

Looks like we're going to have to hire a double decker bus to get them all to Hollins in September Mel :D

My brother & his partner had this a couple of year ago. Their daughter was advised to do the entrance exams for BRGS. So on the forms you have to fill in they put BRGS first and Hassy High 2nd. They offered her a place at Fearns. When they said that they hadnt put Fearns down as a choice - it was going to be either BRGS and if she didnt get in there then they were going for Hassy High. Said because they didnt put Hassy High down as 1st choice she didnt get a place at Hassy High.

By the way - she passed the entrance exam and got offered a place at BRGS.

Re: School League Tables

If it helps AccyMel, my eldest went to Mount Carmel and left last summer with brilliant GCSE results, my youngest is in Yr 8 there now, really likes it and is doing very well. I think it depends on the child as much as the reputation of the school.
