The Blunkett Tapes

I watched the two part Dispatches series on Channel 4 with interest and got a better insight into what makes David Blunkett tick, politically speaking that is.

However what came out of the programme loud and clear, particularly the second part, was the way the cabinet is dominated by Blair.

In a nutshell it was a case of, “agree with me (Blair) or you lose your job.”

Not very democratic!

More like a dictatorship!

Well, I suppose that is his interpretation of cabinet meetings.

Much more interesting was the story in this morning's Times of the claims by the former Director-General of the Prison Service, Martin Narey, relating to the Lincoln jail riots. Blunkett apparently wanted the army sent in to regain control of the jail, and if neccessary, for rioting prisioners to be machine-gunned.

Quite frankly, on reading of this, I was sickened and appalled. David Blunkett was a labour home secretary who had finally come up with a solution to all the do-gooding liberal nonsense going on in our prisons - shoot the scumbags - and what did the government do? Sack him!

Disgusting!

That's one way of making some space in the current overcrowded prison population. Now all they need to do is cause a riot.

kind of ironic how a blind guy can see more sense than teh rest of his counterparts, despite what the PC brigade say prisons are not full of misunderstood people but dangerous murderers and if tehy riot they should be shot
