;) Supresses the urge to call you a mucky pup because I like to have a shower in the mornings but I do love a nice relaxing bath sometimes too.

Sorry, but not candles biggest fan(just as well, they'd all be blown out!!!!).The missus is forever buying them, but never lights them!Decorative purposes only.Whats the point?More clutter to dust round.Candles should be kept in churches, and under the stairs in case of emergencies.Having said all that,i might have to re-think my no more candles policy if these bloody power bills go up anymore!!!!!:)

Re: Candles

For me candles have just two uses. Emergency lighting and greasing a wood screw that is very hard to screw in although soap is just as good. There is one other use that I don’t put them to these days and that is to grease a slide.

Burning loads of candles in a closed room, scented or otherwise, is as a good a way as any to use up the oxygen that you need to breathe.

So could the relaxed feeling be down to slow CO2 poisoning?

Depends on how good the draft proofing is and the number of candles being used. If it was the relaxed feeling was down to carbon dioxide poisoning then they would also start to turn blue and thinking the water is not warm enough fill up the tub again. I blame celebs for this craze! Wonder how many house fires are started in the bathroom because the person in the tub fell asleep???

Rub a candle on a wood saw to stop it sticking and make it easier to saw with.

As someone who very often doesn't sleep, because of Parkinson's and the drugs I'm on, lavender candles help me to relax wonderfully.

The best ones I've found are Yankee candles which they sell at Ossy Mills. Sadly they are the most expensive too.

Two other good uses for candles are to rub the back of new shoes, which are rubbing, to soften the leather, and to make sure your sledge goes extra fast on the snow by waxing the runners.;)

Will remember that next time out sledging :D Actually, Garinda, we used to use the wrapping off sliced bread ... that had a waxy finish to it .. good for slides too.

Re: Candles

We used to use binbags - they were better than sledges for going over the snow and if they tore just ripped another off the roll and carried on. Mum shouted at me though because me & my mates went through a full roll of them and she didnt have any to put the rubbish in - they were all in bits on the shales! lol

If your drawers are sticky a rub with a candle on their bottoms or runners can help there too.

I've just ordered some partylite candles from a candle party held by a friend. They are scrumptious. I was thinking of maybe having a candle party of my own and inviting anyone who'd like to come for a nosey at them, no compulsion to buy. There are some very nice niffs.
