BOOKS
We have had favorite films and songs. What about books.
Mine is the hobbit. I heard it read out loud in Primary school and was hooked I have read it so many times I have lost count. Also like all Cathrine Cooksons Novels also enjoyed the films. Oliver Twist, book and film. James Herberts the Fluke and the rats both brill. |
Re: BOOKS
Not into fiction much these days, more into factual stuff.
(on a late learning curve!) ;D Heidi was the first book I really enjoyed as a child - read it over & over. Some of the Enid Blyton stuff - enjoyed the Treaure Hunters. Most of Dickens' books. Actually used Oliver Twist as part of an exam recently, funnily enough. And A Christmas Carol. Such descriptive writing. The Helen Keller Story - amazing. :'( George Orwell - 1984 & Animal Farm The first "grown up" book I read was Rosemary's Baby when I was about 15, the film doesn't come close - but that's often the case if you read the book first. Same with Amityville Horror. Not really in into Shakespeare. Have his complete works, but it tends to be used mainly for crossword reference! ;D |
Re: BOOKS
Don't get time for books mores the pity. But the only ones I have read over the last 10 years are by David Gemmell .. Fantasy .. Heroes and Heroins and the like. Read all his work. Pure escapeism :)

Re: BOOKS
Always been an avid reader read a lot of Enid Blyton as a kid. Enjoy Stephen King, Patricia Cornwell, Bill Bryson and lots more. Have even read all of the Harry Potters. Don't get as much time for reading as I'd like, working full time and doing a part time degree, which eats into my lying around reading time really :)

Re: BOOKS
Janet, If you like Patricia Cornwell, try Kathy Reichs as well. Very similar theme to Cornwell but a very good read. Had to buy some of hers for holidays as I'd read all the Scarpettas. ;)
