Did anyone see 'Granada Reports' tonight with the plans for the Hollywood-style sign that they are planning to be erect. What's anyone's views ?

Accrington - the new Hollywood?
 

According to an item on TV last night, the council are thinking of erecting an ACCRINGTON sign on top of the coppice in the style of the famous Hollywood sign. Either that or building a model of an alien spaceship up there.

Is this some sort of wind-up?

I hope it is a wind up :( .. However if it got as far as on the telly then maybe not..If I had to choose one or the other then please NOT a spaceship or the whole town is going to look stupid IMHO

It's very true! I saw it myself. Apparently all the plans are up in the town library.

It looks like this council has to much money and is trying to waste some of it  like it did with the market.
Cant it find something better to spend the tax payers money on like a childs play area .
there is a lot of spare land at the bottom of india street that would make a great play area instead of the kids playing football in the street breaking windows.

This is a ridiculous idea. How can the council even thing of throwing more money away on something as daft as thius.

I think the money would be better spent on housing in the local area. Some of the housing is appauling.... ::)

Come to mention it, ive never seen it working either..... ah well, i suppose they half got it right with the cinema, thumbs up on the seats :) Its a shame ive gotta argue with the guys when we decide to go to the cinema... is it accys comfy seats, or is it blackburns better shops and places to walk around....... hmmmmmm ???

Well i live in Germany and we acn get I.T.V. here and i saw it.This is definately proof the politicians do not need brains.
