Yep - we've now got our very own eBay drop in shop where we can deliver our tat for them to sell on eBay on our behalf - if the item sells for £30 or less they will only charge us £10 for selling it on our behalf (or the full amount if that is less than £10). If it goes for more than £30 they charge one third of the final value.

I can't work out what the chairs are for.

It's an idea I was toying with for when my contract runs out early next year. Was going to run it through my brothers toy shop in Padiham.

£10 charge for items under £30 is very steep

Re: a new 'shop' in Accrington

the chair is the waiting chair you have to sit in the chair until you item has ended hehehehe

WillowTheWhisp 07-11-2006 17:45

Re: a new 'shop' in Accrington

The cars could belong to anybody shopping in town or a customer of another shop. It's a place where people park who don't want to go on a car park.

If your item sells for less than £10 they take ALL of it. Between £10 and £30 they take £10 as far as I can understand it. You could end up getting nothing at all.

Is the car up for sale on ebay?

Are the chairs in the auction?

Are they going to be generous enough to pay ebays percentage or is the sucker expected to pay that as well?

WillowTheWhisp 07-11-2006 18:07

Re: a new 'shop' in Accrington

I think they pay the eBay charges.

:D :D :D anyone who takes their stuff there to be sold needs their head looked at...they take £10 of your cash if it sells for £30 or less...or if it goes for more than they take a third...so if it goes for £13 - you get £3:eek: ...the chairs will be for 'customers' to sit on after they have collapsed with shock after being told how little they will be getting back from that silver service set they handed in last week..:D :D
and what happens if a prospective buyer asks you a question - do they answer it for you ? I am presuming you lose all your ebay rights when you go with this mob... as in you cant cancel the auction at any time blah, blah blah...

thats deffo money for old rope...and before anyone says they dont have a pc and its a good idea ...you then use loot or the free ads..I hope they are wearing stripey jumpers and masks cos they are robbing folk blind...and I wonder just how much ebay are making from them..cos I presume they do have ebays permission to display their name in the shop window;) ..I will say they dont...

Ebay shop?

I think it is an ebay shop where the staff are willing to try and market and sell your items on ebay for a fee, I will be checking this shop out shortly as a result of my work, and the fact that I like to keep my ear to the ground regarding business in Accrington. I can provide an update when it has been checked out.....watch this space! lift-n-shift

Rip-Offs-R-Us?

I've heard of these sort of shops in other parts of the country. I wonder if they are connected and if they all charge the same rates.

Time for an RT query methinks.

you have all got it wrong. its a place for all the scrotes to fence any stolen gear with no risk of having the items around their house.

Hehehe... I'll give it a miss. Who of us needs it on Accyweb??? If I had anything decent to sell I would stick it in our buy, sell and swap section. If I have tat.....it goes to the charity shop or for re-cycling.:D

I think its quite a good idea - for Accrington - I think it should do quite well once people get to know about it.

It will no doubt be announced as if it's somebodies new baby in a certain column very shortly, I can see the proud announcement, "look, just like I promised new business attracted to Hyndburn Town Centre and it isn't a pound or charity shop!".

Re: a new 'shop' in Accrington

There is a franchise called I Sold It, cost £70,000 and you have to find a suitable shop front & finance that yourself too. Doesn't look like this is one of them, but has the same ethos.

iSold It - The easy way to sell online

I had a look into it a few weeks ago, but is much too steep with the charges and commission which are passed on to the customer. They also say that the item must sell for at least £30 or they won't take it!

I sell for other people on Ebay who don't know how to use it or can't be bothered and I only take 10% of the final value price on items under £100. I suppose this shop would be ok dealing with large items or breakables as it's on their heads, but I'll stick with the smaller stuff!

WillowTheWhisp 08-11-2006 11:32

Re: a new 'shop' in Accrington

There's a seller on eBay called something like "isellitforu" doing this kind of thing but no idea what they charge.

Can't wait to see the shop featured in a well known newspaper column.
:D
