Thanks for all your reply's, how can you get so attached to a dog in 6 month, this place feels weird without him, no jumping up to greet you when you come in, no barking at you when he wants to play with his favourite toy rope, no chasing him round the room and under the table when he's got hold of something he shouldn't have, the doors still open for him to go in and out and the place is silent, Jasper (parrot) shouted his name a couple of times this morning.
Is it too soon to get another? we're thinking about it, we can't replace Benji but we can re-create the friendly playful house that we have been use to for the past 6 month, if we do get one it is going to be another male Yorkshire terrier.

you cant replace him as you said, but if you ALL agree another is the thing to do. just my 2 cents.

Re: Meet Benji

Well we had a good chat about things and decided we had to get another, both agreed on a male yorkshire terrier, we found one we liked and brought him home today.
He WON'T replace Benji and we won't forget him, even thought of calling the new family member Benji but Mrs H wasn't too keen and I tried it and it didn't feel right.
The house feels kind of normal again (mad house) with a pup running about, we didn't like it the way it was - it's hard to explain but its was very eery, we both said the same thing.
Anyway the new member of the H family is Max, I'll get some photo's soon, you'll probably all think he looks like Benji but all Yorkshire terriers are black and tan when pups, some keep it but others go silver, gold, or slate (grey/blue), Benji was going the slate colour
