Taxi Driver Test

I've just seen this artical about testing taxi drivers in Preston. I think that this is a very good idea. What's your view?

I hope these tests won't be prejudiced, and will also be available to take in Hindi, Urdu and Arabic?

I think it's a great idea, we've all been in taxis where the driver is an oaf, racist, sexist, sweaty, arrogant and probabaly had terminal halitosis but on ethe other hand we've all had taxi drivers who were complete stars. I'd like it if the stars were recognised for once.

It sounds like a good idea. There are some superb taxi drivers who are pleasant and helpful but there are also some ignorant ones who could do with a bit of a better attitude. I must say I've only come across 2 of those in Accy.

My girlfriend works at the Hare & Hounds in Clayton. They won't recommend "Althams" taxi's anymore, because they refused to take an old bloke home the other week. The old guy has severe difficulties with walking & uses a frame to assist him. The taxi driver said that the old guy was taking too long to walk to the taxi, & then drove off.
