Energy Saved = Lower Profits – Shame!!!

It was reported the other day that the electricity companies are COMPLAINING that their profits have dropped because we are not using as much electricity as we used to. My heart bleeds for them.

After the recent Draconian electricity price rises many people have looked at ways of economising and done so successfully. So successfully that we now use less electricity than we used to and thus the electricity companies are not making as much money and they are moaning about it.

Silly me! We should suffer price increases beyond inflation and be so grateful that we use MORE electricity.

A simple message to the electricity industry. Welcome to the real world. You have no divine right to keep the profit levels that you want. Your increases were driven by GREED and now its payback time.

The privatisation trough they all got their snouts into is drying up, so it's stick it up 'joe' public time again, if you get out of electricity into gas you still can't win, they play the same rip off game. The more energy efficient you get the more they charge.

So jambutty what did you do with the £200 the goverment gave you for your winter fuel bill.
this offsets it to some extent

Seems with these companies you cant win - u get stung for pre paying, you get stung for using less, stung for using more, u get stung no matter which company u go with after making u beleive its cheaper...stung stung stung! No wonder people are using less because the rates they charge is scandalous, also the pressure from elsewhere to be energy efficient means people are saving leccy.

I just read on yahoo news that houses built in 2008 they should be installed with solar panelling

I will use my £200 for the purpose for which it was intended - when I get the winter fuel bill.

But what has that got to do with this topic?

I have not got my £200 quid yet, the dossers and illegals must get it first, not the OAPs it was intended for.

your not paying as much as a lot of people at least you get a handout to help with yours.
the younger people with children have to find the full amount be it through card meters which is a very expensive way although cant see why it should be as its payed up front or through a quartley bill

Yes I rang them up, it goes on your National Insurance Number.
you are right about card meters it is 10% cheaper to pay by direct debit, that is a big percentage, you also have a wider choice of suppliers which is very unfair.

Another gripe of mine - direct debit:mad:

They only do the good deals on DD is that it only benefits the bank & the company - not the consumer, cos if owt goes wrong the consumer foots the bank charges as well as the original bill

Actually Mel, the Direct Debit guarantee states that any problems with a DD should be credited back to the persons account and disputed from there. Also any charges incurred due to the DD should be refunded and only recharged if the original DD proved to be correct. The originator MUST inform the account holder of any changes to the amount being collected in advance of the collection date

BTW, my mum got hers last week as well.

Doesn't cover if you have problems with money going into your account on wrong day or delays without notice & direct debit happens to co-incide causing a bounce, as with owt sods law happens theres no coverage just stuck with a bill also in cases of when the company/bank dont take it out on days set, even tho thats in place its sometimes very hard to get revolked as they use the red tape clause. I only have one DD the rest despite best effort to diffuse the pestering for DD, prefer to pay by card or direct cash/cheque - that way i know exactly whats in & out, you have more control whereas DD you dont necessarily.

Delays in payments in unfortunately are your responsibility, I'm afraid there isn't anything you can do on that other than make sure the people who pay you arer creditworthy! ;)

If a Co takjes a payment on an non agreed date (particularly if that is early) then you can demand immediate repayment from the bank and THEY CAN NOT REFUSE! Its up to the orginator to o a repeat debit on teh correct date.

True point easy to say harder to enforce lol but its why i dont prefer DD cos i cant always guarenttee being paid neither can anyone else - nothings guarentteed these days so hence stick to manual payments myself then i decide who getting paid what when, if it costs me a little more for the peace of mind so be it hehehehe:D
