Arndale Centre.
 

My Grandma has just been telling me that the toilets in the Arndale have been shut for some time. Does anybody know why, and when, if ever, they will be re opening? Not that I really ever went in, they were horrid!!

Can't help with that one, but i noticed that yet another charity shop has opened next to the Regency.

The toilets have been closed since the beginning of October...initially it was supposed to be for a month....they have been completely gutted and made a little bit bigger (they have used the space that was for the attendant to store cleaning stuff). There is no news as to when they are opening, but they should be much cleaner when they do. (at least for a little while).

Oh no, it was definately a charity shop. It used to be a womens cloths shop.

They were a little dim weren't they, and manoeuvering with a dancing grandchild was always difficult. Can never understand why ladies toilets always get in such as mess as they do. Toilet paper strewn all over the floor. Other unmentionables scattered, block sinks, etc., I tend to tidy it a little before I emerge, case they think is me. :(

What sort of woman does this ? We always think men are more capable of this, but not so.

Yes, Katex......I think it is terrible when a public facility gets into such a state because the folk who use it leave it dirty. I try very hard not to use public toilets.....but sometimes you have to.

when I ran both of my pubs you could gaurantee that at weekends the ladies loos were an absolute disgrace compared to the gents ,, god knows why?

It's the same in the town centre pubs. I've worked in a few of them, & there always the same at the end of the night.

i wonder if there will be a grand opening of the new toilets? maybe the mayor of accrington will be there to cut the ribbon,with a toilet brush in one hand and flash spray in the other?....just a thought ;)

The toilets have been closed since early October. Every now and then I have seen a couple of men working on them but here's the thing........Why is it taking so long? I always walk through the car park on my way into town but have only seen work going on 3 times in 6 weeks. There was nobody beavering away when I was in town this morning. Both sets of bogs could have quite easily taken 2 or 3 workers a month to do.

As an example, when my bathroom was done it took just short of 3 weeks. The whole suite was completely ripped out, the walls knocked down to the brick (2 fellas did this). A new ceiling was fitted and new electrics, the walls were boarded completely (2 fellas). When that was done I was then left with 1 fella who did all of the pipework, both external and internal. He fitted a new bath, bog, power shower, sink and units. He also fitted a new water tank and connecting pipework for that. Another man then came and did the tiling and flooring then fitted a new radiator.

The Arndale bogs have taken weeks and I highly doubt they will need all of the plumbing work that my bathroom did... All I can say is that when they're finished, they'd better be good.

its been a damn nuisance em being shut at this time of the year, but gotta say the mens were nowhere near as gopping as the womens- going off your description of them.:D
