OTT christmas lights
that time of the year again when people go all out to use as much leccy as possible
i personally think it looks nice and at least it warms to the spirit of season. dunno bout living next door to one though there's usually a nice few driving on the way to blackburn what i'd love to see is one of the HUGE houses on manchester road done over the top - that wud look superb i think http://img2.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/b046ab3ebd.jpg |
Re: OTT christmas lights
There used to be a good one up past the Shoulder of Mutton. Those at West End Ossy do look nice don't they? We never bother with outdoor lights. They'd probably get nicked. We usually have a wreath on the door but not until the week before and we wire it on because that's walked a few times too. Somebody nicked one on Christmas day once when we were all at church! Bloomin cheek.

Re: OTT christmas lights
It can look good all the outside ones but as Willow says they might get nicked. Maybe we should take some shots of them when they are up and vote which is best. As for the leccy I wouldnt like the bill in the New Year with the prices the way they are.

Re: OTT christmas lights
Its always worth a drive round the estate at the bottom of Whinney Hill, I have a friend who lives down there and I think the neighbours are all in competition with each other, some houses look good other just OTT.

Is that the block of cottages set back from the main road? I don't know if the still do all that now, I don't remember seeing it last year. I think I might have an expedition too :) |

In Accy over the weekend, I noticed several houses lit up with cheap, garish, tacky and pathetic "Christmas Lights". I do not know what their purpose is, other than to make the occupants look silly, cause unneccessary light pollution and pile on the CO2 emissions. Certainly, it has now't whatsoever to do with the spirit of christmas - if indeed there is such a thing - but everything to do with keeping Chinese coolie labour busy in producing this incandescent rubbish. |
Re: OTT christmas lights
LOL!
Awww but what about the poor kiddies Mr T, they love it :) |
Re: OTT christmas lights
Theres an estate in Rishton and every year every house on the estate decorates with lights, huge santas and whatever else you could think of, it looks great when it gets dark, i live just round the corner so i often take my little girl round for a nosey, she absolutely loves it!

Re: OTT christmas lights
Remind me never to go to Rishton again. It sounds a hell hole.
|
Re: OTT christmas lights
