Have there been as many people in the past? Has it gone smoothly without any injuries?

I can see the potential danger in a lot of naked flames in a crowded situation. It's not just hot wax dripping, which has bee catered for by the drip catchers round the candles, but loose clothing, scarves or somethng could ignite and I suppose it's better to be safe than sorry.

My Mum used to take me to the Christingle (the one with the candles in the Oranges) at Church when I was little. During the service we had to light our candles and walk all round the church (and it ain't a small church, it took a while) now this services was always full of kids. We never had one accident, infact my Mum is going to take my son this year, and i'm not worried in the slightest. I totally agree Willow, and can see the potential danger, but I just don't think it would ever happen. Some people take comfort in lighting candles to remember the loss of a loved one. Why should they be denied that chance??

That's why I asked if there are more people this year than previously? If it is more crowded then perhaps it would be more dangerous.

the mind boggles , Churchs have had candles burning for 2000 years. Just another example of your tax money at work , probably made up by the same clown who decided it was a good idea to have a sticker saying "STOP HERE" on the top rung of a step-ladder , I blame the elected officials who allow these petty bureaucrats to be hired in the first place, but then I supposed it would be discrimination against the mentally challenged.
