I've never really understood the appeal of spending billions on space programmes, especially when the money could be spent much closer to home. I couldn't really give a fig that there has supposedly been water on Mars. However........ I suppose that eventually, the human race will need somewhere else to live when we have finished buggering up this planet (well, those who can afford to make the move). :D
