Latest from the PC brigade

The latest offering from the PC brigade comes from the Health and Safety mob in Reading. They have instructed Reading F. C to put a sign behind each goal facing the crown which reads "Please be Aware of Flying Footballs". Is it any wonder that 1 in 10 people born in this country are now living abroad.

That's 'fear of litigation' brigade.

I think it started from an incident at the place of worship in Burnley. One fan was hit by a stray shot from a Spanish player in a pre-season friendly resulting in injury and sued the club.

:rofl38: mmmmmm they could do with one of those signs behind the clayton end goals at half time  no it not cos the strikers keep missing ;) mainly because our beloved keeper Robbie elliot fancies being a striker & takes pot shots at the crowd - loverly:D

I think he'd better stop eh before some sad clown gets wrong idea for pound signs & trator the club:(

When will common sense triumph? It's as bad as suing McDonalds when you spill your drink of coffee. Hot coffee is made with hot water -if you spill it you scald yourself but it's your own fault. Football is played with this large spherical object which people kick. They kick it in the direction of the thing called the goal. If you are standing behind the thing called the goal and the sperical object misses the net it is liable to come your way. You chose to stand there - your problem.

Anyone at the Clayton end enjoys the half time jinks and would be mad to stop it. If you cant face being hit by a stray football in a place that has them ie the footy ground then they are better of staying away. It would be like suing Blackpool Council for being stung by a jellyfish whie paddling though you know they are there.

Agree with Willow its "fear of litigation brigade" thats causing a lot of problems that and the no win no fee set up which does actively encourage it. :(

Neither have I silvermain. I had this vision of a football with wings flying around the stadium, like something out of a Harry Potter film. Maybe they are creating a new game at Reading F.C.

I bet Mez wished they'd had warning signs up at Stanley re: flying balls behind the nets.

She may have had her specs broken, and her ear was bleeding, but at least she didn't drop her drink.:D
