Be Vigilant

A little warning to those on accyweb with daughters. We've got a couple of dodgy geezers driving around following the kids and asking them to come to the car. They've been hanging round my end all evening by the sounds of it.

They followed my daughter and her mates down to one of their friends house earlier and parked up close by watching them until they told the friends parents who took them indoors until they'd disappeared.

Later on in the evening they tried to engage my other daughter in conversation, telling her to come to the car. Luckily my daughter was with her friends mother who told the to disappear in no uncertain terms.

I've reported it to the police. They said they were coming to speak to the kids but they haven't. It's like I said to accymel earlier, it might not be serious but I couldn't live with my conscience if something happens to a drunken lass walking home alone tonight and I hadn't reported it.

Just a warning to be vigilant. The car they're driving round in is a silver Toyota Avensis or similar. The kids didn't get the reg but I've told them if the see the car again they must get the reg.

Good alert report Tinks......

I think the blokes should spend some time taking the dogs out for a week or so. I’d also ring the Police back and tell them to get some cars into the area. I would want to be safe rather than sorry.

Re: Be Vigilant

Well done hun for reporting it as u say it could be too late for someone else, these f**kers really pi** me off, blimey they think they own the rd harrassing young girls nowt worse than a bunch of pedo's that need to be stopped immediately!!! They are also nortorious for hanging out on Bullough too where kids play now seems they are cruising round girls for what god knows but very worrying & rightfully need to be warned against!!

Unfortunatley faith in the police is very low with this matter for PC reasons!

Re: Be Vigilant

Cheers. It has worried me no end all night. My kids are safely at home, I'm just worried about any silly young lasses having a few alco-pops and being out on the street alone.

Re: Be Vigilant

OMG Tinks Im just so pleased your daughter had the sense to tell her mates mum , and not risk walking back home alone . Fooking pervs !!! Hope they catch em soon

Tinkerbelle 16-12-2006 22:35

Re: Be Vigilant

Cheers cherokee. I know, I hope it's soon before it's too late. There's 2 guys in the car, the driver and the passenger so any lass on her own wouldn't stand much chance.

Doug 16-12-2006 22:38

Re: Be Vigilant

Any physical description that would help to alert people if they see them?

Tinkerbelle 16-12-2006 22:41

Re: Be Vigilant

Yes Doug. 2 asian males, the driver is a lot older than the passenger approx 40-50 year old wearing a white short sleeved polo shirt. The passenger is in his late 20's and was wearing a black baseball cap and a black jacket with white 'street' writing on it.

I think its bloody ridiculous that the police havent taken it more serious though ,god firbid how it will look if anything did happen tonight

Let's hope the police pull them soon.

I hope plenty of people take notice if police dont do anything then maybe the local paper could run a warning before it gets worryingly bad :(

It'll be on the cops head if owt does - gee all calls should be taken seriously especially of this nature.

I’m unaware of any PC situation to which you refer Mel. However, if there is any ****e going on that take precedence over public safety and the safety of children I would be knocking on some councillor’s doors in the morning.

It is a weekend night though isn't it. Their resources will be stretched to the limit having to police town. They may call tomorrow, I told the WPC on the phone that the kids would only be up til 10pm to speak to them.

Also, how many calls will the receive in a day reporting similar incidents.

cherokee 16-12-2006 22:53

Re: Be Vigilant

Fair comment tinks you cant keep the kids up too late but they could and should have resouces spare to deal with such incidents promptly despite how many calls they get, maybe tomorrow will be too late for some poor begger .. but lets just pray that its not.

True point i hope that it is reported if thats the case then they would have to look into it these monsters of prey need to be caught asap

WillowTheWhisp 16-12-2006 22:58

Re: Be Vigilant

Thanks for the warning Tinks. The police need to take this seriously because I can't think of one good reason why two men should be cruising around and asking young girls to get into the car.

Tinkerbelle 16-12-2006 22:59

Re: Be Vigilant

Totally agree with you both but realistically 2 guys in a car .... needle in a haystack. They may have sent a patrol car up to have a look round the area, the description from the kids and girls mum were excellent.

I hope nothing happens too cherokee, it doesn't bare thinking about

Got to clarify Willow, they weren't telling her to get in the car ..... they were saying "Come here" and beckoning her to the car.

WillowTheWhisp 16-12-2006 23:09

Re: Be Vigilant

Oh, OK I suppose there could be a logical explanation then. They could have been wanting to ask directions or something, but on the other hand it could have been sinister.

sorry dont buy that its most unlikely, i stop many times to ask directions, but not from kids.

Tinkerbelle 16-12-2006 23:18

Re: Be Vigilant

No there is no logic. They followed my younger daughter and her friends earlier in the evening. It's a long story how it all pieced together ..... I'll try a quick version that hopefully makes sense. My younger daughter had gone to a friends house on the lower estate with the daughter of the mum who my elder daughter was with. The mum of my younger daughters friend wanted her daughter home but didn't know the address of the friends house so my older daughter said she'd show her. My older daughter was lagging behind the mum as she'd had to get her shoes and jacket on. She was stopped by the 2 guys who tried to get her to go to their car telling her to "come here". The mum saw and heard what was going on and told them to 'go away'. They thought nothing of it until they arrived at the friends house and was given the details by the friends mum about the guys watching them. It was the same blokes.

Does that make sense

Re: Be Vigilant

Yes, it does, and all to frigtening if their prepared to hang around the same area.....

garinda 16-12-2006 23:24

Re: Be Vigilant

Glad they are safe, and that you reported it, both to the police and here.

Sounds very dodgy and suspicious. In cases like this everyone should try and get a registration number. Not many people carry about a pad and paper, but you can always use text on your mobile, which nearly everyone has on them.

Tinkerbelle 16-12-2006 23:24

Re: Be Vigilant

If they're back in the area any time soon they've been told to get the reg of the car by any means necessary

accymel 16-12-2006 23:24

Re: Be Vigilant

Yep tinks makes sence:D

Has these other mums reported it also it up the concern & back your call too so that way it raises the cops concern??

Thats ok if she has & hope after 3 seperate calls regarding this matter should get the cops butt shifted into patrolling the area a bit more or least attempt to catch the evil sh*ts

Tinkerbelle 16-12-2006 23:37

Re: Be Vigilant

It's just a case of making people aware. Hopefully no ones kids from accyweb are approached by these two, but if they were to be approached it might trigger someones thoughts like "that sounds like those Tinks posted about" and then it wouldn't be thought of as a 'one-off' incident.

True point tinks & glad its creating awarness especially with school hols fast approaching, & least accywebbers can inform other non AW members about it just in case to keep more kids safe, surely this cant be a one off incident & maybe could jog memories if it has happened before now.

Re: Be Vigilant

I'm half asleep so it took me a while to get my head round all the mothers and daughters but yes I follow you now.

I'll ask my girls tomorrow if they've been aware of anything like this and if they do see a car with occupants fitting the description to walk away as quickly as possible and let an adult know.

garinda 17-12-2006 00:30

Re: Be Vigilant

Just a thought, but as most kids have mobiles with cameras on, if the dodgy gits saw them being used to photograph them, their car and it's number plate it might get rid of them quicker if they thought they had been recorded.

Tinkerbelle 17-12-2006 00:33

Re: Be Vigilant

Do you know Rind that had never crossed my mind! Seriously! When we were talking about mobile use it was to ring me or another adult with the registration number. Cheers for that chuck, I will speak to them tomorrow, if they show again they can get reg of the car and faces of both these blokes.

The idea came to me. I've used my mobile to note down numbers before, but all my young relatives have cam phones, if the dodgy gits knew they could be easily traced they would scarper sharpish.

accymel 17-12-2006 00:38

Re: Be Vigilant

Thats a good idea rindy not something u would automatically think of but yes very useful for evidence & proof the cops would need, also maybe as a deterant too.

Although I agree with the general Idea, I would advise caution, they should only try to do this if they can retreat into a safe area. If these bastards are already wanted or have serious mel intent in there mind there’s no say what they would do.

Must agree with doug here ,ONLY TAKE PICS VIDS IF THEY CAN BE SURE OF SAFETY

my daughter is going through a bit of bullying in/out of school at min and claimed that this girl met up with her A.. out of school and banged her head against the wall (not hard)may i add and B ..also during an exclusion on a non uniform day this girl turned up in school and threatend my daughter again in one of the corridors and and when i called the teacher dealing with it WAS TOLD THAT THE GIRLS CARER hadbeen contacted and said that she had been in bed with chicken pox on the said day,and it was only after the event that i told my daughter that she should have takin her pic , but neither of us thought of it till it was too late

MMM there was a unnerving sounding of the helicopter hovering about the area hope things didnt come off this - then again footy on bullough again could be nowt.

Re: Be Vigilant

if the kids remeber numberplates easily tell them to take a picture of the car if their mobiles have cameras

the police should have acted straight away because a police car driving around would put them off and give them an idea that they had been reported
