new supermarket?
hey up theres talks of building a new supermarket on eagle street where old council offices where! could be a tesco, sainburys or morrisons:p asda will have competition:rolleyes: which one should they do??
|
Re: new supermarket?
Wheres the option of 'None, stop destroying our once good market' :p
|
Re: new supermarket?
Personally, I'm not fussed which plavour of supermarket we get, just so long as Asda gets some stiff competition. Maybe then it will get it's act together, instead of the complacent arrogance that pervades.
Can we also have a petrol station built on the site please? If only to give the few remaining petrol outlets in Accy a boot up the arse. |
Re: new supermarket?
Looks like we will be able to shop from the bedroom window, as long as the traffic, parking, noise etc is adressed correctly I have no objections to the new development, it's high time this site was used in a more productive manner.

Can't see Tesco doing anything, they have just opened up the Tesco Express place near the police station

Supermarkets are the death of town center markets, its a fact and you won't change it. If there was no Asda in Accrington people would just go to Blackburn. |

also if you buy fresh from the marking you are keeping it local...ISH |

Nowt left of or once good market. That was destroyed long afore the supermarket carry on because the council decided more cash would come from a retail building open most days. :p |

By the way seeing as we've got Tesco's and Asdas how about a Sainsburys? |
Re: new supermarket?
Where did the Rawtenstall ASDA move to? Or did it just close down?
Accy outdoor market is murder now. Two people with prams stop to shop at opposite stalls and other people just can't get past. There's not enough room to casually stroll by and browse which would lead to spontaneous purchases. |
Re: new supermarket?
Asda moved to the otherside of Rawtenstall just at the bottom of Bank Street.

Re: new supermarket?
Has it got a decent car park? :D

Re: new supermarket?
Well there's a tesco at blackburn, haslingden and now the esso on manchester road.
The nearest morrisons is blackburn town centre. So the obvious choice for smart money would be on sainsbury's as the nearest one to here is in Clitheroe I believe. Sainsbury's also do a lot of different stuff too asdas so that would be a good thing too. |

we have 3 tesco's in blackburn so think yourself lucky ;) i hope for accys sake they build a morrisons, tesco has gone right down in my estimations, morrisons is a lot cheaper,i dont think blackburn should have as many supermarkets as it has,asda,tesco,morrisons.lidl,aldi,netto..its getting beyond a joke |

I feel should be Sainsburys as they do have different types of products, and give us a better choice.(Would save Cashman asking directions too ..:D ). I would have voted for none, but realise there are lots of people who don't have transport. |
Re: new supermarket?
well if they do build a new supermarket think of the the jobs it will give!
|
Re: new supermarket?
tesco wud love to cut into asda monopoly here - only thing is the lack of space for one of their customery HUGE stores which are awesome. there's places i've seen a tesco express less than .5mile away from a tesco extra! so havin an express here isnt really much of a concern
personally i dont think anyone wud really care abou the spot - its too small to have a healthy sized store to rival asda what they shud do with that space is make a nice big go karting track there where i can bankrupt myself or another pound shop. |
