Mrs Dorothy Mackilligan, my gran. R.I.P

I know you dont know her, but i feel so far away from everyone as they are all down south and i WANT people to have known her. I havent told the children yet and i dont know how to. I dont want to ruin thier xmas. I'll tell them tommorrow.

My grandma. She was vibrant and wicked and had the poshest voice anyone had ever heard! She was abit like a cross between Bette Davis and Mae West! She had more boyfriends and husbands than anyone i know and more wit and wisdom too.
She sometimes had a cruel tongue, always a sharp mind, amazing strength and a huge heart for her loved ones.

She tiold stories that will be with me forever, like, during the blitz she was pushing her son in his buggy. She heard a bomb dropping, she ran as fast as she could, the wheel came off the pram. She got to the next street and the bomb landed where they had just come from.

She outlived all her husbands, and her friends. But she's ok now.
R.I.P Gran, i love you.

She died on Christmas day (i'm sure on purpose!)

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. She sound a lot like my mother, who also lived into her 90s, apart from the husbands (she and dad had 55 years together). They don't make 'em like that any more.

You'll miss her but you'll always have your memories.

It is so sad to lose a loved one at this time of year. Your Gran sounded like she had had a good life, extracted all the juice and left nothing but the pips.
Enjoy the memories you have of her...share them with your children and tell t hem how extra special she was.....I'm sure that they know anyway, but it never does any harm to tell them how much you loved her and how much you will miss her. She is probably causing a real ruckus up in heaven right now.

Aw I'm so sorry to hear of your sad loss Nell. I know what it feels like to loose loved ones at Christmas.
I lost my second Mum on the 26 and My Dad on the 27th.
It sounds like she'll be up there causing havoc.
Our thoughts are with you.

It is always distressing when you loose a dear one Nell, but look at it this way, your dear gran will be helping St Peter to turn over the pages of the book of life, and no doubt being a little more forgiving. My thoughts are with you and your family at this sad time. regards Ian.

Thanks everyone. Your kind words are much appreciated. I told the kids yesterday and they spent the whole day crying, they'll be alright. I know she'll be causing havoc up there, and she's with her last husband, well she'll be with all of them.. sounds like a one hell of a party! lol
