Would You Be Missed
Hard to believe nobody missed this poor bloke;
An 81-year-old man found dead in his home could have been there for up to a year, police have said. George Sutton's body was found in an upstairs room of the house in Cromwell Grove, Levenshulme, Manchester, when police broke in on Christmas Eve. Neighbours had alerted officers after they became concerned about not having seen him for some time. Police said the death was not being treated as suspicious and the coroner had been informed. |
Re: Would You Be Missed
Its so sad when this type of thing happens, which it does quite often, before i had jack i was a carer and heard many stories of people who had died and not been found for ages (not just the elderly),what kind of a world do we live in that lets this happen?
lets hope the guy can now rest in peace x |
Re: Would You Be Missed
it happens frequently unfortunatly, when my late missus used to work in a town centre cafe, the stories she used to tell about elderly customers making excuses for their offspring, like she/he didnt come over this christmas, well their very busy blah blah, used to make my blood boil, but thats the way it is in some cases. one lady even said- well i saw her last christmas! i mean come on is that all parents are worth to some people?:(

Re: Would You Be Missed
Very sad,but another sign of how society has changed i'm afraid. On a lighter note i know i would be missed as the missus would have no one to shout at :( .........thats not really true as she could start an arguement in an empty room........especially over Xmas so it seems:( :(

Re: Would You Be Missed
Sorry but I find the whole thing sickening especially if the poor soul had family that couldnt be bothered visiting. All families have their falling out does but that is not an excuse to just forget about them. Yet know one alerted the authorities that bills wernt paid pension drawn etc so have to agree society has to take some of the blame. If this person had no-one then the alarm could have been raised a lot earlier because I would hate to think that I shuffled off and not one person was bothered.

Poor ****** :( Sometimes though, people want to live a reclusive life. You can only be around for some one who wants you around I suppose. I'd like to think I'd notice if some one I knew was missing for a year though |
Re: Would You Be Missed
A very sad sign of the times we live in. If anyone does know someone who does live alone do try and keep an eye out for them.
I live alone and if I don't post on here everyday people ring me up and ask if I'm ok. |
Re: Would You Be Missed
It says little to the credit of his neighbours, when it took twelve months to 'miss' him, the gentleman obviously paid his way in life or the local Council would have been round for their pound of flesh. A sad lonely end to such a long life deseved a more dignified conclusion.

Re: Would You Be Missed
I know i live alone and there are some days i dont speak to anyone except on here. When i was a kid everyone knew each other they were always in and out of each others houses every day or talking over the fence etc. Nowadays people come home from work shut their front door and dont talk to neighbours as much as what they did 30 years ago. How many can name their neighbours 6 doors down?
