Saturday Morning TV

I've just been watching It Started With Swap Shop programme on BBC 2 ... nostalgia a plenty :D

That was when Saturday mornings were great. Come on, let's have your highlights of Saturday morning TV over the years :)

My favourite presenters were Phillip Schofield and Sarah Greene and my highlight has got to be when BROS were on Going Live :D

I remember television before Swapshop came along when I was eleven. Before that you were lucky if they showed Champion the Wonder Horse, the Flashing Blade, Belle and Sebastian. All of them foreign. and dubbed badly into English, followed by a public information film with that whiney cat Charlie.

Swapshop was a breath of fresh air, though we never got through on the telephone to swap anything. We used to turn over to watch Tiswas, which was sometimes funny, but not quite my cup of tea as a good Blue Peter badge holder, I found it a little crass.:D

We used to hope Cheggers would be up Rhyddings Park every week when we tuned in, but the nearest the roadshow came to was Blackpool.:(

Up at six am of down to the market to help stallholders set up, no tv then or money, home for a spot of dinner then back to help them pack up, if they had a good day you'd get one and a tanner, if it were a bad day sixpence, enough to go to the 'bughut' King's Hall at night, fourpence downstairs and a bar of milk chocolate. King's Hall was where the now shut Loyds Bank was, underneath was the Central Billiard Hall, very 'un' happy days.

I remember the one before going live, was it saturday superstore with Mike Reid.

But hey nothing compares to when........[sorry BEEB ha] ITV pipped the best saturday show ever [gee i was 20 odd years old by this time & wose than the kids lol]... SMTV live with Ant & Dec [hadnt bothered with getting up so early on saturday mornings since going live] but smtv i used to get up especially to watch that ..........so over kids heads with innuendo & humour - sad when they stopped, & saturdays mornings became no more:(
