Speed Cameras On M65 Today.
 

Whoops !
Coming back down the M65 from the hospital today, had my foot down a bit, was just really going with the flow and keeping pace with the car in front.
Looked at speedo and i was doing approx 78mph. :(
Do you think the car in front would have been zapped or both of us.

This was the mobile police camera unit, it was parked up by that little red building where they added on the new bit of motorway.

Well by law as the lancashire police are part of the scamera partnership you are allowed 10% of that speed limit plus 1MPH so you where right on the line pal. 50/50 really. But they would have got you both.

Last few saturdays I ahve gone to footy down m65 theres been police on the bridges with cameras... I do 80 on the moterways all the time.. I ahve police cars pass me and don't give me a second look.

What annoys me is all the sissies driving over 70 who slow down to 70 if they see anyhting that remotely looks like a police car.... suddenly free flowing traffic is 70 and I am stuck behind em all. they give me funny looks when I eventually pass them.. I am sure they are wondering why the police car isnt chasing me :)

Oh and at 80 theres far more cars pass me than the number of cars I pass.

My fella overtakes police cars at 80mph and they dont flinch at him. Mind you, you want to see the size of him ...lol.

Hello everyone, only a couple of weeks ago i was caught speeding doing 35mph in a 30 zone.. it happened on a friday afternoon and by the monday the following week i had the fixed penalty on the doormat!!:mad:

The only thing i can say is that after pleading guilty!! they offered me the speed awareness course in Preston for £85 or the £60 fine and the 3 points for the next 4 years, so i went on the course, which in all honesty i think everyone should as its like a refresher as you go out with an adi driving instructor and REALIZE HOW MANY BAD HABITS THAT YO ACTUALLY PICK UP!!!

Your speedo is probably 2 or 3 mph out anyway, it will read faster than you are doing. At 80mph on my speedo my sat nav says I am only doing 72mph. How far out your speedo is will depend on how worn your tyres are as well.

I never speed on other rds.. Just the MWAY but if ever I do get done for doing 80 on the MWAY (unlikely unless automated speed camera) then I would certainly take the course... Others have said the same as you.. worth taking..

The only reason why i was speeding was because the last time i went down that stretch of road it was 40mph in Altham all the way through, and when i saw the van, i looked at the speedo and thought i was under the limit so didnt even bother to slow down!!:(

Indicated 78 is as Neil said probably about 71-2 so you will be fine. Don't worry about it.

Sat Nav are ace at telling you how far out your speedo really is. Mines a bit weird as its not linear. As Kipax, I spend so much time on motorways you get used to them. I regularly go past plod at indicated 80 and they never bother as longas you show you are showing attention to whats around you and are sensible/correct in your driving (moving over when you should, correct indications etc).

The thing that a lot of the 'anti speed' people don't understand is that people have totally different feeloings of speed. At 80 I feel like I'm doing 30, to someone who only potters round town, 50 may feel fast. My brain has become accustomed to that speed and can interpret whats happening around me quite easily. Its what its used to. To M Schumacher, 80 probably feels like walking pace as his brain is used to 150+.

I blame the wind !!!!! The wind that comes from the atmosphere that is and not the mushy pea type of wind :D
It blew me down the motorway.

In an ideal world the motorway should be 70mph = 1st lane, 80mph = 2nd lane and 3rd lane should be kamikaze :D :D :D

germany has the right idea with the autobahn or however its spelt

anything goes with speed but they come down on you like a ton of bricks if your naughty on normal roads

the police here should not be victimising drivers on the safest roads going ( the motorways) but should instead be focusing their efforts on teh streets where all teh real idiots are getting away with almost any traffic infringment known

3 times today i have had taxis shoot across infront of me after clearly going through on red lights as my lights were on green and theres even a pause between traffic light changes and that was long gone after these idiots went through
