Ex-champ Hamed stripped of honour

Ex-champ Hamed stripped of honour

O.K. so he did wrong and perhaps he deserves to have the honour stripped from him but, how many other people should have been stripped of their's for being just as dishonourable, or worse, after all, I'm sure he didn't go out that fateful day with the intention of hurting anyone and yet there are people that have even served jail sentences for their deliberate crimes that still have their titles etc.

Was Hamed used as an example? Was he just a bit too much of a commoner to be protected against losing his honour? Should others now be forced to return their honours? In the interest of fairness I say, YES.

:(

If they wanted to set an example then why havnt they stripped archer of his title? Maybe Hammy was an easy target for it and that they were to chicken to take on someone with mony and power. It stinks of hypocricey and a nasty smell at that. He has had his punishment so it should be left as is and be allowed to start afresh.

he deserves to be taken off the hamed does

but as for archer - i think its something to do with the law that a lord cannot be stripped of his title but can be stopped from attending the house of lords

To be honest really do you think he will care? Does he get anything for being an MBE? If not then what would it matter to him. That prison term of 16 weeks is just unbelievible.

Re: Ex-champ Hamed stripped of honour

Never mind the MBE, the injured family won't give a stuff about that.
It is disgusting that he only served 4 months in prison for his idiocy.
Stripping him of a title won't spare the British Empire any embarassment.

Yes he did, but Lord (Jeffrey) Archer didn't, I don't think.

Hamed showed very little remorse for the lifelong injuries he caused to the innocent driver he maimed, because of his reckless driving. So yes I think his honour should be stripped from him, along with anyone else convicted of a crime.

That said I'd stop the antiquated honour system full stop.

If a person can't be "de-Lorded" there should be a change to enable that to happen. I can see where it may have arisen with a hereditary title but in some cases I can see that it should be possible for people to be stripped of their hereditary titles too.

Sir Mark Thatcher, 2nd Baronet, was fined $500,000 and given a four year suspended sentence, after pleading guilty as part of a plea bargaining case, because of his involvement with the attempted coup in Equatorial Guinea.

Suprise, suprise he hasn't been stripped of his hereditary title.

Oh I'm not sure about that. I bet if you sat down and had a one to one chat with him, I would be willing to bet he feels a great deal of remorse. He's a human being first and a boxer/celebrity second.

Archers is a life peerage and not a hereditory so it could if they wanted be removed from him.

It was the cavalcade of expensive cars that turned up to the prison on his release, and the celebratory shouts of joy, and the no comment answer, when asked by a reporter what he thought of his victim's plight, that helped me make my mind up about his attitude.
