New Mosque New Windows

Well the new mosque at Clitheroe has finally been granted planning permission, and the windows have already started going in, probably before the prayer mats have. It is a sad reflection when after years of trying to find suitable premises, a certain element will not leave them to worship in peace.

I can understand the feelings of both sides but I don’t see the point of needless act’s of vandalism. Any moves to overt turn the decision will be weakened by this sort of crass attempt at intimidation; all they will do is strengthen claims of racial intolerance and play into the hands pc brigade and give them a reason to scream and shout that we are victimising an ethnic minority. I doubt that this is just kids and thugs alone.

Doug, How can you undrestand the feelings of both sides???? These are mindless morons with no tolerance of other religions.. Just what justification could they possibly have?

I was referring to the individuals perhaps not wanting a mosque for valid reasons and those Muslims desperate for there own place of worship. What makes this worse is the morons who have perpetrated this act will more than likely benefit from the community aspects of the project.

What I wasn’t meaning, is that I understood those idiots who where throwing stones through windows. They’re just mindless and ignorant.

OK, the joys of language eh? :D

I'm still at a loss to think of a valid reason for not having a mosque though.

I thought you meant they had started putting new windows in at first.:D

Then I clicked on.

Maybe it's the way I put it......:)

There isn't one to my mind. Not sure if the area it's sited is the best for all concerned but there's no vaild reason for preventing people from having a place of worship irrispective of their chosen or given beliefs.

so because a future mosque has been vandalised its a racist act now , anyone thought for a second it might just be everyday vandals wrecking an empty building it is usualy what happens to empty buildings

Is one pertaining to be an expert at grammer and the spoken English language?;)

If so I will sign up for a few lessons.

As for what is happening the wheels are in motion and there is no point in anyone trying to stop it. Everyone is entitled to worship as the wish regardless of their intollerances of others. Mind you if history is anything to go by religion has killed more people pro rota than any other institution.

I did think about reviving the earlier thread instead of posting this. To the anonymous karma nicker at least I have the bottle to post them, and risk idiots like you taking hard earned points, just because your drunk with power, it is no wonder the threads posted lately are so mundane when the likes of you pontificate on the posters you do not agree with!

Re: New Mosque New Windows

Did they take karma because they don't like the mosque or because they don't like the vandals?

This mosque business has put me right off Clitheroe. I used to like the place and thought it would be a nice town to live in. So does the prospect of a mosque in its midst put me off? No, it's the revelation of what some of the inhabitants are like that puts me off.

I'm glad they finally have a mosque, I believe they have been campaigning for one for over 30 years. Why shouldn't they have a place to worship.

I take your point katex but I raised a thread to promote a discussion, it may or may not be my own point of view. To raise a thread then told "once is enough" is rather a feeble excuse for removing 11 points.

i would first suggest you re read what i posted and try to see it in a different light... the BIG HAHA should give you a clue.... your not the first person to say they wont post again (yes thats the imprssion many of us got)...then keep posting (done it myself) and that wasn't what prompted my response... if it was meant nasty there wouldnt be a HAHA

but like i say.. if you really want to be threatening then feel free.. i daresay i am easier to find and far less anonymous than you are...

Yeh, but you have now negated the power of this thread, which I thought was a reasonable social comment on this issue... OK. maybe could have been added to the other thread for ongoing events but, so what ?? .... only one plonkers comment .. ;)

Ianto, you are your own worst enemy.

Having a tantrum about karma only encorages people to take more.

As I've said many times about karma, until you can spend it in the shop, it doesn't faze me one way or the other.

It's not real...unlike the vandalism this thread was supposed to be about.

Now you and Kipax pucker up and make friends.

There's enough silliness in the world without any unnecessary bad feeling on here.

Re: New Mosque New Windows

here we go again
assumption,assumption,assumption
if some idiot goes around and smashes the windows of your local CofEthey are just mindless vandals.
but it just so happens that this empty and semi derelict building is due to be a mosque so hey lets throw it straight into the news as another racially motivated attack
when are the idiot pc brigade going to learn
it's comments like this that cause more bleedin' harm than good when it comes to inter-racial relations
the more they brand every little thing as a racial attack the more we are likely to see rataliation
this was more likely to be another act of mindless and probably drunken vandalism on an empty building and not a racially motivated attack.

But were there any windows broken before planning permission was given for change of use to a Mosque?

jedimaster 05-01-2007 13:29

Re: New Mosque New Windows

does it matter

all we can do is speculate as to the reason behind the vandalism
but in most cases it is a spur of the moment thing
it is just that the pc brigade are too quick to shout racial attack without having any facts to back it up and that attitude is dangerous to any mixed community
as i said if it had been any other religious building no-one would have mentioned the word racial but as soon as its a mosque it is instantly racially motivated and all hell breaks loose.

Re: New Mosque New Windows

Agreed, this can't be classed primarily as a racist attack. Unless there are more facts, we simply don't know. More likely seasonal vandalism.

Apparently the Nativity crib in Ossy was vandalised on New Year's Eve. Unless I find out anything different, I'm not presuming that it was attacked by an angry mob of Atheists.

I was thinking the same thing. More than coincidence, perhaps? This building apparently went unmolested until current events. And hadn't it once been a Christian church/chapel? Is it not true that Christian churches in Britain have a hard time maintaining a congregation these days? Use it or lose it.

Very true. It always amuses me when people come on here spluttering about how this is a "Christian country". I wonder how many of them actually go to church? I wonder how many of the good, upstanding citizens of Clitheroe who are up in arms about this, bothered to go to the building when it was a church?

Personally, it always upsets me when licenced premises are turned into mosques (or any other religious establishment). Now, that's REAL sacrilege but I don't go chucking Noris through their windows.
