ASDA pathetic

Went to asda last night... got to the till at just before 9.50-55 to find all the ones in use had a red rope accross... every single till... so we went to end and it was self service tills only but they had 15 items or less... we had a trollley full.. by now its 10pm and every single till is closed.. all 24 and not one single person even sat at one... 5 past ten and a lady opens till 24 and we rush over to be about 4th in que...finally get to being served.. and they open a second till because of the que...

I know no point 24 tills.. I know it was staff changeover.... but 20 minutes for us to get served and most of that spent doing nothing because there wasnt anyone at the tills.. I find it incredible that a store like asda has any period of time while open with absoloutly NO tills being manned (womaned, personed or whatever)

i thought I would feel better having a rant.... I dont :(

Your right, it’s disgusting the way people are left waiting around for no good reason. It’s enough to send you off your trolley…

I went last nite aswell. Although it was earlier than when you went. We used the self scanners as we didnt have all that much. Although it kept doing the silly "skip bagging" thing or "please rescan/item not bagged" it took a while but I looked over at the tills and said to my Mum that it still took less time than it would have done waiting at a till, as it was really busy and there was only about 3 or 4 tills on, and this was about 7pm.

those self scanners are useless , if it dosnt scan 3 times then you should get it free

dont have the same problem at tesco their self scanners are much better :-)

What is to stop people not paying for items on those self scanning tills?

Ive always had this argument, i think the idea is that your going to put your shopping in your bag and they are on weighing scales. but its simple you just dont put the stuff in the bag if you havent scanned it. not that i ever would. There is also people watching. but it certainly is a flawed system. maybe scanning takes off the alarm that sets off when you walk out of the doors???

No only items with a tag on sound the alarm like cloths or bottles but normal items dont. Cant see how the weighing could be accurate enough but what do i know.

It is very accurate. I presume they weigh the items before hand and then all the info goes into a computer. Perhaps?????

Yeah maybe but id think they would have some other form of security for that area. I know they have store dicks.

I aint got a clue to be honest, i just scan all my stuff, pay and walk out. So apart from what i've mentioned already I haven't got the foggiest.

Its probably more cost efficient to have someone steal some cheap items every now and then, than to have the extra staff manning tills .. since most people are genuine :)

It does seem like it's open to abuse.

Do you fancy doing an experiment? First, see if you can get past the alarms with items you haven't scanned and secondly, see how fast you can run if the alarms do go off ;) :D
