I knew they were desperate but..

Yes I know I am not America's greatest fan but this takes the biscuit.

I knew there was a shortage of folk signing up but..

Seriously though how do you apologise for such a monumental cock up?

If I was the widow of someone killed in action I would assume it was a mistake - even now I receive correspondence addressed to my late first husband.

However, if I was a soldier wounded in action and got one of those letters I'd be scared they were serious!

What an unfortunate admin error, very upsetting for the relatives, shouldn't happen really this day and age.

On a similar note...my dad died when i was at 2nd year at school(1972),i got in bother a few times after that at school, and every letter was addressed to my dad.I remember it well cos it used to upset my mum.We were talking 500 students here, not the American army.Hang your head in shame Accy grammar:mad:

There's no excuse for the school not updating their records. That's ridiculous.

these kind of cock ups are everywhere and have been for many years, when my nan died who i lived with 5/7 days a week,i was asked by me mam n dad where here polocies etc were kept, i got them out of a drawer and below them were various letters from home/war office (cant remember which) saying my dad was missing in action presumed dead etc etc.well he sure as hell wernt dead or i would not be typing this.lol that must have caused great distress to my nan at the time, my point being it aint just the yanks, they all seem to make these cock ups and have done since WW2,and probably before.

i kinda agree with willow

i guess these folks have a mailing list so to speak. it just needs better sorting out to define the reason for leaving.

i'd be upset if i'd got that letter and just ask the military to change its procedures
