Doesn't look or sound right brilliant this morning and I've got to go out in it. :(

It isn't. Watching a wagon move across 2 lanes involuntarily going over Thelwall was 'interesting' to say teh least.

I bet his underpants are a bit smellier than they were when he set off this morning :D

Re: tonights weather

well my back garden looks like a war zone the fence panels my hubby has repaired several times over the last couple of months have finally dissintegrated into small bits of wood (and not just one but all of them)

my bbq has been blown half way across the garden and plant pots etc strewn all over the place ,

heard a loud thud in the night so god knows what that was but a lot of bins have been blown over and to make it worse its recycle day so there are tins ,cans etc everywhere ,
and it dosent seem to be letting up just yet either.

entwisi 11-01-2007 08:36

Re: tonights weather

This is like the old ladies who stand in the Post Office queue thread.

'Yes Ethel. It's was windy/wet/cold/damp/sunny/hot/freezing/damp last night.'

Some of us only came in for a stamp, so we could post off our insurance claim.:D

i've been awake since 5.30am & knackered [thanks wind break a habit of a lifetime lol] with the wind so loud i thought my windows was going blow in & the roof blowing off - big downside to being on top of a hill & gable end, my bins blown over & boxes all over garden, least the back fencing went completely during the last gales before xmas. Got one child off school sick atm who can sleep thro a hurricane  & so hope the other didnt blow away whilst going to school pmsl.

For a change i saw morning today - i had to go to the dentist and now sitting here and cant talk - i had a tooth out. When I went out this morning found the bin on its side and halfway down the back. One of the neighbours has a gazebo up well the metal bits are still standing the tarpaulin of the top has gone. Another neighbours pool has moved from one side of the garden to the other. But my garage is still standing!!!

They've just been going on about it on the news. Saying its "severe galeforce" so I looked outside and I swear I saw a cat flying past the window. lol. only kidding but the trees really are going for it though. I was going to nip to Co-op, but i dont think i'll bother!! lol. :D

Not exactly kite flying weather but a scateboard and towel could, if the wind is right get you to and from the shops very quickly. :D

Playing havoc with my central heating pilot light. :(

Lolly 11-01-2007 14:46

Re: tonights weather

Well I braved it to the shop. My god it was wild. My hair took a battering, just spent 10mins trying to get the knots out of it!! lol.

Whats everyone moaning at:confused: It's only a bit of wind & rain, happens all the time. It's what makes our weather so interesting,it helps put the Great in Britain.Tourists flock to our shores to see blue sacks soaring horizontally accross main roads,to feel the freezing rain smack against thier shivering skin. They don't come here to take snapshots of Big bloody Ben you know:rolleyes:

In Bury, it didnt seem that bad last night, or else i slept through it. The tones of my wife snoring send me into a deep sleep.

Seems since the beginning of December we seem to have had low pressure sweeping in from the atlantic, bringing lots of rain and strong wind. Its like every other day, strong winds and all, mild temperatures. something going wrong somewhere!!! :(

Re: tonights weather

It´s pretty similar here tonight. A few of the roof tiles above our balcony have just slammed down onto the terrace below us. I really hate the wind. Everything slamming and banging really unsettles me.

I hate the wind coz it's scary, but it could be worse it could be snowing. It's not so cold or the time of year.

Re: tonights weather

well on news again that britain is to get another batterin with the gales!

Gales of 70mph are expected to batter Britain this week - with colder conditions following.
Much of Scotland, down to Manchester in the north of England, is likely to be hit by high winds over the next few days, MeteoGroup UK said. There will be very strong winds across Northern Ireland, southern Scotland, northern England and north Wales. :Banane48:
