I have just been for a few pints with Less in the Last orders on Blackburn road .
We had a good natter and then left to walk home not a problem you might say WRONG.
as we got just past the junction with willows lane right in front of the car shop there is a box on the road which you are supposed to keep empty now me and less were on the pavment and a black car mounted the pavment and and took up 3/4 of it and very nearly hit less so we stopped and they got out asking why we did not move .
excuse me this is the pavment not the road less said so they got out and started pushing and threatning us just because we walked on the pavement .
If you cant walk on the pavement where can you walk:confused:

Is blackburn rd in England? If so then how come theres different parking laws.. On blackburn rd your allowed to park on double yellows... your allowed to double park your even allowed to park sideways onto the path... your deffo allowed to park on the path down blackburn rd and ****** anyone with a pram or a wheelchair..

its the only area I know where parking laws seem to be different to the rest of the country :(

oh and if you feel like a chat... find a car illegally parked and go to the drivers side thus standing in the road and stay there chatting while cars try to get around you.


hey and I live a spit away just off blackburn rd... no one sent me any paperwork about the new parking rules:(

lights at the railway station.. there always mounting the pavement there :( as you come out of town and traffic waiting to turn right towards flicks...

I hope you're both not too shook up by it, never any witnesses with these incidents and I'm sure the police wouldn't do anything anyway, definately agree it seems to be one rule for one and different for another!

I agree with kipax there is allways a van or car parked on the pavement or even driving down the pavment i have seen this before now.
but never seen a trafic warden down there .

Actually Mick, the way I remember it, I stopped because a piece of black metal was coming towards me across the curb, he stopped and because I didn't move quick enough for him to get on the pavement, he deliberately revved his engine and advanced until he touched my legs.

The next thing he is out of his car threatening us because we didn't move out of his way, with his whimpish bespectacled mate joining in. I thought we would be enjoying hospital food in the near future, but I'm pleased that even though he tried to joggle me to one side and threatened us,we stood our ground and he went back to his car and we can relate this tale to others.:mad:

I havent been along blackburn rd for a few years now but i have heard about this kind of behaviour on more than one occassion and i agree ..maybe it is one for the observer to get its teeth into ....

it has been mentioned before on here and in teh local press that eh council ordered a clamp down in the blackburn road area but the council GAVE UP becaue they couldnt enforce the law

whatthe hell were they doing giving up , the police shodl have been brought in and any vehicle breaking teh law taken away and crushed

maybe then it may sink into these people that they have to obey the law

I once asked a Traffic warden why they didn't go out to this area. The reason given was they are instructed to patrol the town centre only.I wonder who we speak to on the council who can instruct them to extend their remit somewhat

Like everyone else I'm glad you two are ok.

I'm in agreement with Kipax (hurrah!) on this one.

The laws of the United Kingdom don't seem to apply to that particular stretch of Blackburn Road. Cars are constantly parked on double yellow lines, or double parked, holding up the traffic whilst some arse hole in some revved up heap, has a chat with his mates.

Easy pickings you'd have thought, for any traffic warden or policeman to make up some revenue in fines, but no. I wonder why?

If infact there are signs up warning us that UK law no longer applies, and that infact Sharia law applies, do please let me know, so I can avoid driving through there, and reduce the risk to myself of being stoned to death.

HUURRRAAAHHH, even better idea then maybe people wont actually catch erm be hit by taxi's whilst crossing the rd:confused: & guess what no cctv camera there either mmmmm so drivers could hit someone & get away with it if not witnessed for evidence:rolleyes: . Bloody nitemare to cross both rd points near kwik save on kings st, cos they dont half fly round & dont bloody indicate, absolute hazzard to cross being a pedestrian:(

We need some Land Rover driving vigilantes with dig bull bars on the front. They can drive up and down Blackburn road tearing the sides off the illegally parked cars.
I think it will the classed as the car owners fault anyway if they are illegally parked. :D

Bollards stop cars parking on the footpath, they don't always look very nice but they do work. Then again so should the Police.
