Wow, now that's some wicked wind eh Mick? How far off is that from Accrington?

I wish we could get some snow. It's finally been cold enough -2 to 2C (I think). It was nice being able to work on cutting and splitting wood when it's nice and cold like this. As I guess you may know, most of US has been hit pretty hard by snow and ice. Not sure if Billcat has got hit hard or not.

I saw a bin blown across Accy Asda car park this morning.

As for the snow, I do like the stuff, as long as I can still drive my car when I need to (or want to), and as long as the snow doesn't upset my football schedule!

Looks like it is still warmer in Accy than here. This morning, it was 19 degrees F (about -7 C). They're promising us some "Wintry mix" tonight, a not-so-lovely euphemism for a slushy belnd of snow and rain. Ugh! Don't mind snow, don't mind rain, hate the slop in between!

Re: Weatherflash!!!!

I left my office in Warrington at 1.30 p.m. today. I had to get across a wide road to the car park I was using. The wind was so strong I almost fell so I grabbed some railings and stood for a minute getting my breath back. A young chap, waiting in his car at the traffic lights, wound his window down and asked me where I was going and did I need a lift! :)

When I got to the car park - large and very open - I spent 2 minutes clinging to someone's Ford Mondeo as I couldn't walk straight and I really was in danger of being blown off my feet (I'm still recovering from flu and not feeling very strong). I got to my car by grabbing every other one I passed and then I had a job to open the car door as the wind was blowing it shut!

There are large branches down all over the roads here. The Mersey is in danger of bursting its banks and the traffic is horrendous as Thelwall Viaduct is closed and all the HGVs are going through Warrington.

On the whole, I'd rather have snow.

:(

We are having new windows and doors today, many thanks to the poor guys at Sureframe who did them. They took the old window out and leant it against the wall, big mistake, 2 minutes later it was halfway down the street, with glass shattered all over.

My Dad drives a motorbike and it took him 1hr 15mins to get from Haslingden as he had to go about 5mph, and at one point he still ended up on the other side of the road in a grass verge.

Oh well, looks like I'm gonna' need a roofer if any available soon ! Just got home and the end tile thingy (what is that one called that fits on the apex of the roof ?) has blown into my drive. Lucky me car wasn't there.. would have had a bent bonnet lid for sure. Any recommendations welcomed as the gent who used to do mine has now retired.

Noticed next door neighbours wind chimes have now landed in the drive .. guess too much wind for those, eh ? Can't say I am unhappy about those though ;)

When I worked in the centre of Manchester on a day like today, turned to go down Princess Street and this huge approximately 3' x 3' solid wood sign from a club or summat fell off its hangings and just brushed my shoulder .. that was definintely one of my nine lifes I can tell you .. makes me shudder now to think of it .. can still her the thud as it hit the ground ... brrrrrh.

Good luck, been trying for the best part of two days to get one.

Know what you mean Sara .. will let you know if I find anyone .. flier through my door, must have spotted the broken tiles on my drive ...little reluctant, but you never know.

Best thing is, tonight... reported the damage to my Buildings Insurance Company (only £ 50 excess) .. explained my problem. They gave me a reference number, told me to get an estimate from a qualified builder/roofer and only to come back to them if it was over £500. Send in the bill, I could pay workman (they would recompense me), or they would pay direct .. full stop. Their surveyors are busy at mo.
Hassle free, or what !
